... eat lard, smoke tabs instead.

But seriously, those of you familiar with Woody Allen's "Sleeper" will find this chucklesome

A cancer-free way to shorten the worst years.

or, actually, not.

It's just the ones in pills though, not food.

It's a meta analysis but wasn't there a story about a study on antioxidants last year that had to be pulled because people were dying in worrying numbers? Maybe that wasn't published though, because they couldn't finish it.

Antioxidants are not meant to be magic bullets and should not be expected to undo a lifetime of unhealthy habits," said Patrick Holford.

"But when used properly, in combination with eating a healthy diet full of fruit and vegetables, getting plenty of exercise and not smoking, antioxidant supplements can play an important role in maintaining and promoting overall health."

^^^ every quack always says some shit like this, as if doing all that shit wont make you live long already

Actually never mind, this is what I was thinking of, and it's another meta analysis (same conclusion though)

(then again it looks like the exact same thing and the BBC are over a year late with reporting it)

Is Patrick Holford is implying that it only looks like people who take supplements are dying because they take them instead of eating properly? Because you could just as easily argue that people who buy supplements are extra conscious about their health, and less likely to eat rubbish.

The fucked up thing is that my first thought was "Now I really want a vitamin."

A review of 67 studies found "no convincing evidence" that antioxidant supplements cut the risk of dying.

I find this very amusing!

isnt the risk of dying 100% for everyone?

and what, Thursday, 17 April 2008 16:02 (seventeen years ago)

That's why the next one is also funny:

Even more, beta-carotene, vitamin A, and vitamin E seem to increase mortality
