the one near where i work tends to put sugar in the coffee even if ask for it black, or explicitly without sugar. they seem to be on autopilot a lot. THAT SAID, i am a fan of their muffins on days when I want a sweet in the morning. The double chocolate one is extreme. I like the Blueberry Burst or whatever it's called.
― ian, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)
connecticut muffin is maybe the least appealing two word construction in the english language and i hate it
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)
have you seen the one down the block yet? it's hilarious

someone told me it was opening across the street from me in the old 7 corners hardware and i got all mad - luckily, bunk info - it opened two blocks away and then surmounter went there and then he started a thread and then i started complaining on it
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 14:45 (seventeen years ago)

Surmounter - I lived on Broome st for almost three years when I was in college and loved it. Took sketchy Chinatown bus to NY couple weekends ago and had a walk around. I miss NY! I've been in Boston for a while now! Where did you think I was?
― ENBB, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 14:54 (seventeen years ago)
If there's a CT Muffin actually in CT, it's news to me (in CT).

69 burger was manna from heaven when i was fending off the worst hangover of my life last week but i wouldn't eat there all the time or anything
― impudent harlot, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)
eh the food is ok - their steez is lame and way behind the burger zeitgeist tho

NM what I said ealier about living near there - I lived by one of the other ones. I didn't realize was a chain but google tells me there are lots of them in NY now. That logo is annoying, yes.
― ENBB, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)
HAHAHAHAHA the logo.
ok i'm sorry BUT: Mullane's is AWESOME, as is La Bagel, and the fucking Smoke JOint. you need to try their fries.

my only association with connecticut muffin is that there was some brutal shooting at the soho one a bunch of years ago...i don't think i've ever had one of their muffins
― bell_labs, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:17 (seventeen years ago)
honestly i don't know what's funnier, the font or the muffin. the muffin might take it
wow that's a bad association...
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)
ha i realized that could be read the wrong way, i was not associated with the shooting, it's just the thing i think of when i hear "connecticut muffin"
― bell_labs, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)
duuuuude none of those places are awesome - they all have mediocre food at best and completely inane styles
omg im goona go have some "brooklyn wings" at the smoke joint or maybe ill head over to mulaines so i can feel like im in cleavland then tomorrow for breakfast ill get some bagels severed up by paroled sex offender druggy weirdos

there's at least two in brooklyn, dunno about manhattan
― impudent harlot, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 16:23 (seventeen years ago)
dude they're barbecued meats are great, as are their fries, and their smoky greens. and not that his means anything but their hot dog was named best dog in the city by some stupid magazine.
also Mullane's burgers are great, and mullane's is a really convenient place to go and just chat. and LIL PIG SANDWICHES ARE OFF THE HOOK.
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 16:26 (seventeen years ago)
i'm sorry my typing is so horrendous :(
(i'm slightly hungover)
I had the Black Angus hot dog or whatever but really IT'S A HOT DOG. I do not require it to be anything special beyond not-made-of-cow-lips, and I like dogs best with sharp cheddar melted on top which they do not do. So...eh.
― Laurel, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 16:28 (seventeen years ago)
i agree, i had it, and it was fine
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 16:28 (seventeen years ago)
surmounter do you find yrself waxing poetic abt pretty much every meal ever y/n (be honest)
― jhøshea, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 16:28 (seventeen years ago)
hehe no i don't but i think i am a positivist, whatever that means. i've been finding myself VERY positive about new music lately. i don't know.

what i wanna know is why ppl hate that La Bagel place (besides the sexual harrassment) -- their bagels are so good!
lololol

Reinstating what, exactly?
― Laurel, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 16:40 (seventeen years ago)
that my fav. pizza in the neighborhood is Not Ray's... very yum. where do you live Laurel?
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:03 (seventeen years ago)
(prolly asked you before)
I used to live in Crown Heights/Prospect Heights, now S Wburg with the Juice.
― Laurel, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:04 (seventeen years ago)
Dude, you might want to look up the difference between "reinstating" and "restating".
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:06 (seventeen years ago)
Dude, you might want to acquaint yourself with Surmonster's posting steez and stand clear.
― David R., Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:08 (seventeen years ago)
I am acquainted! I'm just trying to be helpful.
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)
i just looked up steez
reinstate was wrong.
― Surmounter, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)
honestly these ppl put some kind of crack cocaine in the iced chai latte. i mean it's like, with a regular coffee u can kind of put the coffee down, let it sit for a minute. even with an iced coffee. but with an ICED CHAI LATTE, u cannot stop sipping the coffee. u are constantly sipping it until u feel like when it ends u are going to have a panic attack and shut down forever. only then u don't.

i should start a thread about kelly's coffee & fudge (on the first level of every mall ever).
― altered dominant (get bent), Thursday, 29 April 2010 01:57 (fifteen years ago)
so something weird happened to our connecticut muffin
it became like the best place in the neighborhood for ... SOUP
it should be called "soup house" bc people flock there for the soups. there is this one soup "chicken tomato orzo" that literally gets sold out and ppl like call and email in about it.
― boo (surm), Saturday, 11 December 2010 18:42 (fourteen years ago)

― ice cr?m, Saturday, 11 December 2010 19:00 (fourteen years ago)
i srsly go into this place like every day now. i feel a little bad about academy restaurant tho cuz i used to go there daily for soup. OH WELL i'll spread the love.
― boo (surm), Saturday, 11 December 2010 19:20 (fourteen years ago)
uhh they changed soup vendors
― surm, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 16:06 (twelve years ago)
I always thought it was weird to have a place in New York City called "Connecticut Muffin," as though New York City suffered from a dearth of muffins, whereas Connecticut is a place associated with them. Seems a little like having a Delaware Bagel Shop or a Maryland Pizzeria
― space phwoar (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 16:44 (twelve years ago)
i have not thought about this place since i left brooklyn
― steaklife (donna rouge), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 16:45 (twelve years ago)
the williamsburg location was the first one I ever saw iirc, but there was also the ones in BK Heights and Ft Greene. I didn't think much of the coffee.
― space phwoar (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 16:46 (twelve years ago)
It stuck out more to me in Williamsburg because I remember it being there before Williamsburg was 100% bougie-fied. At least I think so -- maybe my memory is off.
― space phwoar (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 19 March 2013 16:47 (twelve years ago)
yeah no i think you're right.
their espresso is fine, and they take CC no minimum
― surm, Tuesday, 19 March 2013 16:48 (twelve years ago)
I mostly think of this place as a public restroom
