And it's a shame Louis Jagger isn't around because he's always good value on cricket threads.

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

Lucknow Jaggers

Tom D., Friday, 18 April 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

THE KNIGHT RIDERS HAVE SOLID GOLD HELMETS AND PADS

A+++++++ GREATEST SPORTS FRANCHISE EVER

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:00 (seventeen years ago)

LJ: like the poor, always with us.

Neil S, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:02 (seventeen years ago)

Royal Challengers have psychedelic sleeves!!

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:04 (seventeen years ago)

I am loving the teams of 10 Indian dudes and 1 token Aussie bloke. And the all-white cheerleaders in Kolkata!

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)

Chennai Super Kings have a player called Napoleon Einstein, so that's my choice made!

Neil S, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)

Rather short on the imaginative names

I am going for the Punjabis if only because the IPL says they feature 'break-dancing S. Sreesanth'.

Ed, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:09 (seventeen years ago)

Sreesanth: The most crazy man in world cricket!

I wonder if anyone will say Mumbai is insulting Native Americans with that name choice!!

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)

that is probably the worst team name in professional sport. i'm looking forward to 3-way tournament with the Lancashire Englishmen and the Adelaide Australians.

I dunno, Adelaide Englishmen would more apt (that's some local social commentary for you).

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:18 (seventeen years ago)

50 runs in the first 4 overs = Indian dudes shaking their mobile phones in the crowd like a polaroid picture.

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)

Mumbai Indians gets better the more I think about it, unlike the IPL.

Noodle Vague, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:30 (seventeen years ago)

And the all-white cheerleaders in Kolkata!

pics or it didn't happen

gff, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

Aren't they on loan from the Washington Redskins?

Neil S, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)

They promised BOLLYWOOD CHEERLEADERS so I don't know what's going on there.

King Boy Pato, Friday, 18 April 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)

Damn! He looks as comfortable doing that number as throwing fastest balls to worlds best batsmen :)

Can't wait for Brett Lee's 2011 World Cup Theme Song, by the way. It might even beat out that Dave Stewart classic "All Over The World" for Best Cricket World Cup Theme Song Ever.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 20 April 2008 12:44 (seventeen years ago)

The idea of making the highest run scorer in the IPL wear a bright orange cap is SOLID GOLD CLASSIC and not just because Don Bradman is rolling in his grave now.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 20 April 2008 12:46 (seventeen years ago)

BY THE WAY, that nice Mr. Louis Jagger of Cambridge sent me a Facebook message in regards to all this. Nice young chap, he might be the next John Major if we're lucky.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 20 April 2008 12:50 (seventeen years ago)

Loving how every article currently written about cricket goes along the lines of "IPL 20/20 isn't cricket, it's like a McDonalds cheeseburger compared to the foie gras of Test cricket, etc etc."

King Boy Pato, Saturday, 26 April 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

I'm more disappointed about how Chennai's pants are a different yellow to the tops.

three weeks pass...

I actually voted for Rajasthan in the end. Team Warne and all that, plus they have a reality TV star in their side. Hopefully they can translate their dominance into the right result today.

Just got offed, Sunday, 1 June 2008 13:35 (seventeen years ago)

Team Warne is number one and the best and it's a shame they couldn't get sponsorship from a major Australian fast food chain.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 1 June 2008 14:02 (seventeen years ago)

Biscuit company, surely.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 1 June 2008 14:06 (seventeen years ago)

nah that's Glenn McGrath

Just got offed, Sunday, 1 June 2008 14:07 (seventeen years ago)

Real talk from Eddo Brandes.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 1 June 2008 14:08 (seventeen years ago)

Shane Warne is in the top 3 sportsmen of our age IMO.

haitch, Monday, 2 June 2008 02:04 (seventeen years ago)

hey dude i want it as much as you do

there are a few personalities still dotted about the game but none of them play for england (since hoggard got dropped); pietersen is the closest we have. vaughan's probably quite a complex character but he hides behind a ghastly PR masquerade, deep in the shrouded cocoon of Team England. people like mark butcher and hoggard are being phased out in favour of automatons.

whereas the australian team has been absolutely full of sparkly, entertaining, forthright individuals. none more so than warne (and mcgrath). between them those two were pretty much my ideal sportsperson.

Just got offed, Monday, 2 June 2008 09:51 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, okay, but HAYDEN???

Jarlrmai, Monday, 2 June 2008 09:54 (seventeen years ago)

haha but we don't even have a hardsledging bible-bashing bowler-breakin' bully in OUR side

not that we'd want one i guess!

Just got offed, Monday, 2 June 2008 10:10 (seventeen years ago)

one year passes...

ILX faves getting a pasting from the Deccan Chargers here.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 12 March 2010 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

Ismael Klata, Friday, 12 March 2010 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

'getting a pasting'? My bad

Ishant Sharma's currently 6-5. Deccan are ripping through Kochi. It's great to watch.

three months pass...

I am an American who watched old 2011 world cup highlights and I'm all jacked up, want to pick a favorite team to root for next season, which team is the most fun to watch? I liked yuvraj singh iirc.

davon cuul II (m bison), Friday, 12 August 2011 02:21 (fourteen years ago)

btw to be clear I watched world cup to get jacked up on cricket and now I am inspired to pick a premier league team to arbitrarily favor

davon cuul II (m bison), Friday, 12 August 2011 02:22 (fourteen years ago)

one year passes...

Some really exciting young Indian players in the IPL this year. Sanju Sampson looks terrific and Unmukt Chand has been in good form for Delhi.

хуто-хуторянка (ShariVari), Friday, 10 May 2013 17:32 (twelve years ago)

Kieron Pollard just hit 34 off six deliveries.

Another six now!

хуто-хуторянка (ShariVari), Monday, 13 May 2013 17:59 (twelve years ago)

Two more massive sixes from Pollard to finish. Amazing batting.

хуто-хуторянка (ShariVari), Monday, 13 May 2013 18:10 (twelve years ago)

Sreesanth arrested!

Yusuf Pathan has just beasted 64 off 18. Fastest fifty in IPL history.

Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Saturday, 24 May 2014 17:31 (eleven years ago)

dropped first ball; a sitter

lol t20

verhzleyavbtreleambreb (imago), Saturday, 24 May 2014 18:32 (eleven years ago)

MI vs RR is ridiculously tense. Mumbai needed 190 from 14.3 to qualify. They have 189 and need a boundary with one ball to go, due to some complicated maths I don't understand.

Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Sunday, 25 May 2014 17:41 (eleven years ago)

Six!

Yuri Bashment (ShariVari), Sunday, 25 May 2014 17:43 (eleven years ago)

That was amazing.

oppet, Sunday, 25 May 2014 17:44 (eleven years ago)

Dunno who it was who hit that six facing their first ball but bloody hell.

oppet, Sunday, 25 May 2014 17:45 (eleven years ago)

truly it's been a weekend where evil has asserted itself, against the odds, at the last gasp. sport can pretty much fuck off at this point

English cunt read Guardian (imago), Sunday, 25 May 2014 22:38 (eleven years ago)

at least this one was kinda epic & came largely at the expense of two australians

English cunt read Guardian (imago), Sunday, 25 May 2014 22:39 (eleven years ago)

oh is the IPL still a thing that people are into (apart from Indian guys and Glenn Maxwell)
