How do you feel about breast reduction surgery?
Have you ever had sex with someone who has had it? How did you react? Did you know before you saw them naked?
If you haven't been with someone with breast reduction scars, would this affect your attraction to the person? And how would you react to breast scars in a non-sexual situation (eg at the beach).
What do you think is the best way of revealing that someone has breast scars to a sexual partner or a friend that would see you naked?
Do you have ethical problems with this type of surgery? Would you interpret someone having a breast reduction as a statement on that person's preferences for other women's breasts?

I wouldn't sweat it. By the time we get her shirt off, us guys are hardly capable of cognitive thought.

That which is not slightly distorted lacks sensible appeal: from which it follows that irregularity - that is to say, the unexpected, surprise and astonishment, are an essential part and characteristic of beauty. --Baudelaire

The thought of breast reduction for anyone other than the most grotesquely enormous (and health reasons) is completely horrific. Sorry.

Mark C, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't say I'm entirely keen on the idea either, unless it is causing health problems.

Ally C, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i don't think it matters. and i don't see why it has to be for health reasons so much either. if breast enlargement is acceptable then why shouldn't reduction? I can completely understand why someone would want it done. tits dont matter much in the end i don't think. people should accept people for who they are, and if they don't then they're wankers, probably

fran, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

if breast enlargement is acceptable then why shouldn't reduction?

I would guess that the people who are wary of elective breast reduction aren't all that keen on elective breast augmentation.

Dan Perry, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have a lot less of a problem with redux than augmentation. At least with reduction the breasts are still 100% real.

Scars don't bother me. In fact I find them very sexy.

electric sound of jim, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I once saw the operation on TV. It was horribly fascinating. They kept cutting chunks out and then weighing what they'd removed on scales to check they were being even handed. In answer to the question, I'd have no problem with it. Less than breast augmentation, certainly.

This is my rule.....if Punky Brewster does it, you can do it too.....preferably if them shits are straining your back or just obscenely misshapen due to crazy mass, though.....usually tits as they are just super no matter what.....word to bnw, by the time it hit the snaps, I'll gobble titties of any size and shape as long as they're reasonably fresh and natural looking (aw man, the worst silcone jobs feel like a whoopie cushion stretched over a rock yo).

Tangential diss......the funniest kind of closeted pedo-minded guys on the internet are the ones that meticulously follow the careers of about 500 very young actresses at once and eventually accuse almost all of them of getting implants even if their tits grow totally naturally along with their bodies and don't stay miraculously flatchested.....what the fuck yo....."uh oh! she's had her boobs done! ;)".......and she also entered puberty and gained about 40 pounds too you salakuta!!

Ramosi, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So can I start tying a bandana round my right knee and wearing my hair in a ponytail pulled to one side from now on?

Ally, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Medical Problems" are not the only reason or (my point-of- view obv.) the only acceptable reason. I had many reasons.
I am disappointed no-one has yet addressed the aspect of my question concerning the revelation of these type of scars. Not just in sexual situations but also for friends. For example if you are going to the beach or river to swim with your friend(s) and you prefer to go naked or without a top.
Also, I am particularly interested in women's experiences or what they might think it (sexual experiences whether one-off or ongoing with someone who has breast reduction scars) might be like for them.

ms. scarred, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A few women I know have had breast reduction. If done by a good surgeon, the scars are minimal. It is a small fine line that can hardly be noticed unless you are with your face on their breast. I don't think most people will ever have the pleasure being so up close 'n' personal with your breasts (and even if they are, I don't think they'll mind). Is it a statement? Damn, the statement, if you really feel uncomfortable about your breasts, CHANGE it. I am fed up with people having radical statements. Life isn't black and white. The simple question is: Would you feel happier with smaller breasts? Yes? Then do it.

nathalie, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes I did do it.
(Was that addressed to others who might be considering it Natalie?). I'm not sure what you mean by "Is it a statement?".
I had this done more than 6 years ago and am very happy with my decision. But I never really decided what the best way of revealing it to others. My usual approach I guess for one-offs is to keep the lights off or low and not mention it. Though I did mention it once to someone I was in the initial stages of a one night stand with and it seemed to be OK.
Perhaps if you think the scars are minimal is you may only be familiar with breast reductions done by liposuction type of operation. Mine were too big for this as is common and I got what is known as "keyhole" surgery which resulted in fairly extensive scarring (around the areolas and down from there to the bottom of the breast and in an arc under the breast).

ms scarred, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(Was that addressed to others who might be considering it Natalie?)
Yes. It is a hard choice to make. There are pros and cons. It's of course easy for me to talk about it, because I did not have to make the choice.

nathalie, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

maybe its just my faggotry but frankly any man who would be so nervous about small tits and not notice a brain isnt worth hangign arround .

anthony, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

faggotry. That's awsome.

JM, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i don't follow your logic, anthony: so women are allowed to have drastic cosmetic surgery to alter their LOOKS, but men are only allowed to choose a partner solely on their brain, and are not allowed an opinion regarding looks?

michael, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But...if a woman gets breast reduction surgery, she is not exactly going to have "small tits" but rather a more average size that is easier to carry around for health reasons? I am totally flat-chested but in articles I have read on this, women usually reduce to a C or possibly B, and that is hardly "small". I have this very tall friend with large breasts and it can be quite creepy to go out with her, some guys are just SO obvious in comments and stares, I think that is what bothers her more than the back pain.

Evangeline, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ms. Scarred: I'd say the best way to reveal it (if you're swimming w/ friends etc., and in most cases for a sexual partner) is to take off your top at the point when you would anyway. If they ask, you say "oh, I had surgery a long time ago." No friend is going to think it's that big a deal, and nobody you'd want to be within two feet of anyway is going to have a problem with it. Which rules out sexual partners having a problem with it, right?

Douglas, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

its not just anthony's faggotry, i reckon thats true too.

di, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No, what i am saying is that tits dont matter as much as brains .

anthony, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

How do you feel about breast reduction surgery?

i wouldn't do it myself.

Have you ever had sex with someone who has had it?

yeah.

How did you react?

she'd made such a big deal about it and kept saying that i'd find her body 'rilly freaky' i just thought 'oh is that all?'.

Did you know before you saw them naked?

yes.

What do you think is the best way of revealing that someone has breast scars to a sexual partner or a friend that would see you naked?

What Douglas said above. it doesn't need to be a big deal, unless you're in the sack with Mark or Ally C.

Do you have ethical problems with this type of surgery?

no.

Would you interpret someone having a breast reduction as a statement on that person's preferences for other women's breasts?

no.

hamish, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

anyone who is a decent person surely will understand. if you don't wanna make a big deal of it, say it in an offhand way. or maybe wait til they ask (if they do..). i reckon it would be a hard thing to say but then many things are. you just have to blurt it out.

" And how would you react to breast scars in a non-sexual situation (eg at the beach).". i think i would respect them for havin the confidence

fran, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

anthony - errr. thats what i meant!

di, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

three months pass...
If I was with a woman that had a breast reduction, I would vomit on her! Flatchested females look, and often act as in they are just skinny little boys! Nasty!

I think you're mistaking their disdain for something other than their easily understandable conclusion that you appear to be smooth as well -- in other areas.

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

One of my friends got breast reduction surgery last week. She had just turned 18 and was very excited. She didn't like how they looked and had been having back problems; she's still not exactly flat.

Maria, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Was Ned talking about brain folds again?

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've known friends who have done it (it was a matter of constant, painful back troubles and ill-fitting clothes) and I thought it was fine. Couldn't tell much difference other than thinking they lost weight (which I guess they had).

In general, I don't ask about scars in casual situations. People could have them for a variety of reasons: elective surgery, accidents, etc. If I'm just at the beach with friends or having a one- night stand those things aren't really my business are they?

Ms. S., Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh any my friend who had it is now a 36C. Hardly flat. . .

Ms. S., Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Wow, how did you get those scars?"

"Oh, those are the stab- wounds I sustained while suffocating my last one-night-stand."

"I see. Excuse me, I think I left something in the bathroom..." *sprints away*

Casual curiosity can save your life!

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There are all sorts of reasons for having this, and I've no problems with any of them. As for the effects, scarring is rarely a big deal - my ex had a couple of scars lower down from two lots of surgery (appendectomy and gall bladder removal, if I remember rightly) and she felt they were hideous but nobody else minded.

Martin Skidmore, Tuesday, 9 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

1: I have plenty of scars, and I like them. They look nice on me, like little tattoos.

2: I'm 36DD, and I've never gotten, in my entire life, one rude comment about them. I'm miffed. I don't get any back pain from them either. Am I just weird?
