Dudes, I dyed my hair last night with BLONDE hair dye and it came out BROWN. BROWN!
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:04 (seventeen years ago)
okay but what was your hair color to begin with?
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:04 (seventeen years ago)
did the box advise you to do a test patch first? did you do a test patch? I thought so & not respectively, tsk tsk
― J0hn D., Monday, 21 April 2008 21:05 (seventeen years ago)
i know, that's their can't-be-sued bit
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:05 (seventeen years ago)
Well, after much convincing I almost believed PP when he said it looked alright (PP is a reknowed blonde hatah BTW) but I just passed the wheelchair guy at work who ALWAYS says hi to me but today he spotted me and did the quick "i didnt see you" turn away. OMFG THE EMOTIONAL DAMAGES. Theyre definitely heading towards the 6 figure bracket.
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:06 (seventeen years ago)
I once dyed by hair with blonde hair die and it came out ORANGE, and then I had spiky orange flame-hair for three days
― nabisco, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:07 (seventeen years ago)
RENOWNED. oh god brown haior is making me spell not good
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:07 (seventeen years ago)
I did this when I was 17 and ended up ginger. For the first time in my life I was living as an oppressed minority.

Jesus Christ that MFA has killed my ability to type/think/spell
― nabisco, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
You need to (1) use the 40 developer then (2) the color you want.
p.s. All your hair will then (3) break off. But it will be blond.
― felicity, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
look people, the chick on the box was definitely blonde
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
I have come closing to trying blond out half a dozen times in my life and this thread is persuading me I have been right to resist
― J0hn D., Monday, 21 April 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
ok but blonde can't just dye dark hair blonde, guys, you have to have light hair first, to really dye it blonde
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
I loved being blond. But see (3) above.
― felicity, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:09 (seventeen years ago)
Did you buy a velvet jacket to match it? That would have been my move.
― kenan, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:09 (seventeen years ago)
Also SS, we need to see this to make a judgement.
― Ned Trifle II, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:09 (seventeen years ago)
srsly
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:09 (seventeen years ago)
nabisco and ned it goes black > brown dark > orange > bright orange >bright clown yellow > duller yellow > blondie. Ive experienced all of these. IT IS POSSIBLE.
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:11 (seventeen years ago)
-- nabisco, Monday, April 21, 2008 9:07 PM (1 minute ago)
i have also done this thing. I managed it by having dark hair and passing out with the stuff still in. no good.
― John Justen, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:11 (seventeen years ago)
really if you came out brown instead of orange you should write Miss Clairol a thank you note
― J0hn D., Monday, 21 April 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)
it's true
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)
felicity this was THANK GOD a neutral color so no red is in it. big problem avoided.
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:12 (seventeen years ago)
i was already blonde btw so risk of orange low
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)
oh lol, then that rly shouldn't have turned ur hair brown, huh...
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)
It should fade if you blow dry it a lot.
― felicity, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:14 (seventeen years ago)
woah sunny i dyed my friend's hair a while ago and the box was brown and it came out golden but we had bought 2 and only used 1 box, and a few weeks later she used the 2nd box and it came out the color it was originally supposed to be.
― tehresa, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:16 (seventeen years ago)
??? someone has to stand up and fight for peoples hair color!
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:19 (seventeen years ago)
i just stopped dying my hair altogether.
― tehresa, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:20 (seventeen years ago)
that'll teach em!
― tehresa, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:21 (seventeen years ago)
I have mine done at the salon, I am a klutz and will destroy the bathroom if I do it myself
― J0hn D., Monday, 21 April 2008 21:23 (seventeen years ago)
i rly want to get mine done at a salon, but it's expensive. it's like i would do it once, but then you have to keep it up... and my hair grows fast :/
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:23 (seventeen years ago)
after hundreds of self-inflicted hair mistakes, i just limit myself to shampoo and razor cuts at great clips. I am not to be trusted with decisions regarding my appearance.
― John Justen, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:26 (seventeen years ago)
i havent been to a hairdresser since 1989. good/bad?
― sunny successor, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:32 (seventeen years ago)
good, i wanna start cutting my own
― Surmounter, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:33 (seventeen years ago)
I had to stop dying my hair burgundy a couple of years ago. Harder to deal with plumbers and electricians when your hair looks purple sometimes.
― milo z, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)
I think I've been to an actual barber/hairdresser maybe 4 times in my entire life.
― nabisco, Monday, 21 April 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)
this is a sad and seemingly litigious-worthy hair dye story

― S-, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)
lol at three posts between surmounter saying he wants to get his hair done in a salon and saying he wants to cut it himself
― n/a, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:32 (seventeen years ago)
Are you gonna bleach your hair, sunny, or try and dye it a different, nicer shade close to the darker one you inadvertently ended up with? In addition to suing, I mean.
― Abbott, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:33 (seventeen years ago)
looks like we need to disqualify someone from the blondes poll...
― gr8080, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:35 (seventeen years ago)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
― Abbott, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:35 (seventeen years ago)
I voted for her!
years ago i bought BRUNETTE hair dye for my mousy brown hair and it came out BLOOD RED. i cried at first and then realised that it looked A+++ awesome and kept dyeing it red, off and on. fucking high maintenance shit tho so i gave up altogether last year.
― Rubyredd, Monday, 21 April 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)
How do you sue, srsly? First you get you one tort. Then you get you one or more lawyers. Then stand back!
They will do the rest - while billing you at $250/hr for picking their nose while thoughtfully staring out the window and thinking about your case. If they really, really like your tort (let's say you sustained a massive, debilitating personal injury at the hands of a multi-millionaire), they might only bill you for 50% of recovered damages. Regardless of your tort, they will smile a lot and express concern.
― Aimless, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 01:07 (seventeen years ago)
Aimless has tort me a lot today!

I really enjoy going to the salon. My hair is really hard to deal with so I either have to get a crewcut (how I wore it for most of the nineties; my wife can't stand it) or get somebody who totally knows his stuff. we have a great salon here in town with a guy who's really great with color.
long story about me trying to conjure the spirit of my hair-dyin' 16-year-old self, when I did it all my friends said "I like it" so I just kept it up
― J0hn D., Tuesday, 22 April 2008 02:18 (seventeen years ago)
Looks like you missed out on the Rachel
― JTS, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 22:42 (seventeen years ago)
I keep seein this thread title as how do i use...
― not_goodwin, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 23:21 (seventeen years ago)
I basically have to dye my hair because it has gone completely silver under the dye... I mean I could grow it out but it'd age me terribly ans I'm really not rockin' that look at this point in my life ffs I'm only 37.
So I dye it black. I do it myself mostly - now that I've got rid of the red fringe I had for so long its a lot easier to upkeep.
I'd never cut my own hair though: I'd stuff it up.
― Trayce, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)
im feeling this chick although i would have sued proctor and gamble:

Judge dismisses blonde's lawsuit over brown dye Oct 8, 2:21 PM (ET)
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut judge has given the brush-off to a blonde woman's lawsuit claiming L'Oreal Inc. ruined her social life when she accidentally dyed her hair brunette with one of its products.
Charlotte Feeney of Stratford says she can never return to her natural blonde hue, a shock that left her so traumatized she needed anti-depressants.
She says she suffered headaches and anxiety, missed the attention that blondes receive and had to stay home and wear hats most of the time.
A Superior Court judge dismissed Feeney's 2005 lawsuit Monday, saying she never proved her allegation that L'Oreal put brown hair dye in a box labeled as blonde. The company also had disputed the claim.
Feeney referred questions on Wednesday to her attorney, David Laudano, who has declined to comment.

an image comes to mind of her sitting alone in an armchair wearing a derby or something with her arms crossed
― burt_stanton, Wednesday, 15 October 2008 16:23 (seventeen years ago)
wait, i would like "charlotte feeney" to explain to me how she can "never go back", considering your hair grows and corrective dye done one time would not hurt your hair badly. also i question her claim she is a natural blonde if she's using blonde hair dye that was accidentally brown!
