Are they sweet or what?

Tell me they're fucking SWEET, y'all!

Abbott, Sunday, 27 April 2008 01:57 (seventeen years ago)

I want to go to the Smithsonian on mine.

Abbott, Sunday, 27 April 2008 01:57 (seventeen years ago)

I went to Vancouver and Vancouver Island on mine. In retrospect, I think I did have special honeymoon specs on when we went: Several years later when I returned to Vancouver, it seemed a lot dumpier than it was on my honeymoon. I was a bit disappointed.

Moral: Don't honeymoon anyplace to which you intend to return.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 02:16 (seventeen years ago)

go to the AIR AND SPACE museum

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:10 (seventeen years ago)

On my so-called 'honeymoon' I was quite ill and weak, having come down with some bug on my wedding day. But this seems about par for the course for wedding/honeymoon stories.

The real secret is that the honeymoon isn't about the short vacation trip right after the wedding. It's really all about the first months (or years) of your marriage, before you come to grips with all the places where you butt heads.

Aimless, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:14 (seventeen years ago)

We usually butt heads on the same cliff where the bighorn sheep go at it.

Abbott, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:15 (seventeen years ago)

Do other married folks really butt heads???

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)

In my marriage, we just pull out the electric razors and make sweaters from each others' coats.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah. Before you're married and for a time after, you can just pass over those head-butting incidents as being, well, incidental. Eventually you have to deal with them as real and worth sorting out, however long and painful the sorting process seems to be.

Aimless, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:18 (seventeen years ago)

this is a thread about fun honeymoons

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:21 (seventeen years ago)

fucking sweet ones even

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:21 (seventeen years ago)

Once I got over that stupid bug, my whole first year of marriage was, shall we say, fucking sweet. Never been happier. Not before or since. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Aimless, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

go to the AIR AND SPACE museum

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:35 (seventeen years ago)

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:35 (seventeen years ago)

p.s. <3 u max i am just sharing my personal and pos not even accurate idea of honeymoons.
serious answer:
SPACE SHUTTLE HoneYMOON

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

I'm going to Australia for mine next month. my dad went there a lot on business when I was a kid and has been filling my head with stories about how awesome it is my whole life, so I was ecstatic when he offered to help us go there for our honeymoon instead of just helping pay for the wedding. I always figured we'd go somewhere less ambitious/expensive in Europe for a few days, so it's gonna be cool to get to somewhere way far away for a couple weeks. I've been saving up days off for pretty much since I started my job.

man between this and the marriage thread I am really doing a bad job of keeping to my usual "keep your personal life off ILX" guideline.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

also i don't know why but i don't really like museums, there, i said it, they make me fall asleep

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:39 (seventeen years ago)

unless the museum was in a space shuttle far above the earth

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

If you take an art history class or two, it's a lot easier to get involved when you visit a museum, I think.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:41 (seventeen years ago)

I've lived within driving distance of D.C. all my life and been to every museum there at least twice, so the idea of going there for a honeymoon is really funny to me. but then I have no idea where Abbott lives, I guess not on the east coast?

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:42 (seventeen years ago)

congratz on your imminent wedding, alex in baltimore! i'm sure you're gonna have an awesome day.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:43 (seventeen years ago)

She's in NM.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:43 (seventeen years ago)

i would find museums more fun if you could sit on those office chairs with wheels and whiz around.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

I think that appreciating museums is an acquired talent.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

do i need to take an air and space museum art history course to appreciate it

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

You have to be able to look at the art and inquire as to what part of the dialectical discursive process it fits into.

XP: Probably not.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:46 (seventeen years ago)

no you should just take you're own wheelie chair.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:46 (seventeen years ago)

not to be confused with wheelchair

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:46 (seventeen years ago)

wait i am talking about museums not art galleries!
art galleries/'art museums' are different!

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:46 (seventeen years ago)

SPACE is awesome and once they had a bunch of shit from star wars

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

i havent been in like 15 years

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

i mean an observatory is probably more fun!!

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

but air and space is the best smithsonian imo

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

Art galleries = first draft of museums.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:48 (seventeen years ago)

art galleries are better for being in love in

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:49 (seventeen years ago)

SPACE excepted obv

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:49 (seventeen years ago)

Art galleries are better for having $5000 to drop for home improvements.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:50 (seventeen years ago)

i am with rrobyn here

tehresa, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:52 (seventeen years ago)

my honeymoon was weird cause luxury makes makes us both fairly uncomfortable so sitting around the caribbean having people bring us shit got really tiring but we was good sports and made the best of our decision to try and do some traditional indulgent behavior. the best part of every day was retreating back from the other douchey couples (who were ALL from the midwest and south) and everyone else in the world every night to our little private cottage to drink lagers named after local volcanoes and smoke creeper caribbean street weed we bought from a rastafarian in an alley and play checkers and read mark twain in the tropical sunlight and have sex under pressure to have magnificent honeymoon-grade sex

iiiijjjj, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:53 (seventeen years ago)

lol @ "sex under pressure to have magnificent honeymoon-grade sex". this whole part of the honeymoon concept is funny, how it's all built up. i'm sure that part of it will be nice but i feel like we'll be disappointing people if we don't have an epic 2 week freak-a-thon, even if they'll have no idea whether we do or not.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 27 April 2008 03:58 (seventeen years ago)

thats sort of an outdated concept anyway isnt it, from when u were supposed to be a virgin before marriage

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:00 (seventeen years ago)

observatories and planetariums=A++++

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:00 (seventeen years ago)

you guys are blowing my mind here

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:02 (seventeen years ago)

shouldnt you be out having fun on a saturday night instead of being mean about the air and space museum

max, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:04 (seventeen years ago)

We got married in late July and just went away for a couple days after that. The "real" honeymoon was scheduled for November in New York (neither of us had ever been there before) so we could tie it in with time off around Thanksgiving. So we bought plane tickets in mid August.

Oh yeah, this was in 2001. Our honeymoon was kind of interesting.

joygoat, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:05 (seventeen years ago)

i mean i've never actually gone on a lay-back-and-relax-and-that's-all vacation and pos never will b/c it's not really something that interests me too much, tho a few days of that within a longer vacation wld be awesome, but to me a honeymoon is a lot about getting to just relax and not worry about things and do a whole bunch of things that make you happy together. and i mean i wld elevate sex a bit higher in that whole bunch of things.

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

epic 2 week freak-a-thon

needs to be a username

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

xpost lol i had to have night in to be mean on the internet - i haven't done that in a while! i miss you guys! also it is raining

rrrobyn, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:08 (seventeen years ago)

i went to san francisco on my honeymoon, great time but we both caught serious colds because sf in july = crazy fucking weather

gershy, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:29 (seventeen years ago)

museums make me have to poop

mookieproof, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:32 (seventeen years ago)

aw shit really? that's when i'm going :( +12hr plane ride + southern to northern hemisphere =guaranteed cold anyways

xposr

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:32 (seventeen years ago)

“During most of the summer, chilly Pacific air shrouded in fog invades San Francisco Bay; average highs in June and July barely reach 70 degrees. Heated air over the Central Valley rises, drawing this chilly fog in. But, as fall nears, the sun’s rays no longer heat the Valley very much and less air rises. The cool ocean fog slows its inland march, allowing sunshine to bring the real feel of summer to the City by the Bay.”

gershy, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:39 (seventeen years ago)

Oakland is warmer than SF in the summer, Ruby.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:54 (seventeen years ago)

I honestly love SF weather to death. It's perfect, except that I could use a bit less rain in the winter.

libcrypt, Sunday, 27 April 2008 04:55 (seventeen years ago)

i don't actually handle the heat too well, so i'm kinda hoping the temps don't get too extreme. i'm used to temperate ol' wellington.

Rubyredd, Sunday, 27 April 2008 05:09 (seventeen years ago)

it is never hot in sf -- unless i am visiting

mookieproof, Sunday, 27 April 2008 05:10 (seventeen years ago)

(not a joke, it was 95F when i was there several septembers ago)

mookieproof, Sunday, 27 April 2008 05:11 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know what y'all are talking about in this here thread. Honeymoons are about shagging, right? Right? You're supposed to be having sex, right?

Unless you're planning to have sex in museums, which is something I encourage.

King Boy Pato, Sunday, 27 April 2008 05:41 (seventeen years ago)

WOW

i booked my honeymoon hotel back in december - i just re-booked it and got $150 off per night!

our family friend travel agent sux ;_;

moonship journey to baja, Sunday, 27 April 2008 06:17 (seventeen years ago)

that is awesome. mad jealous.

tehresa, Sunday, 27 April 2008 06:19 (seventeen years ago)

so wait, is your screenname a description of your honeymoon?

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 27 April 2008 07:26 (seventeen years ago)

would smash @ that place

gr8080, Sunday, 27 April 2008 07:30 (seventeen years ago)

If you do go to the Air & Space Museum, be sure to take a trip out to Virginia and check out
Udvar-Hazy:

http://newsdesk.si.edu/images_full/images/museums/nasm/objects/UH_concorde.jpg

Although I have a feeling that Abbot's more of a National Museum of Natural History kinda gal.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 27 April 2008 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

If I were to take a honeymoon though, I'd probably want to get as far away from tons of people as possible (i.e NOT Warshington). National Parks during the pre- and post-season would seem ideal for this. Find someplace to rent a cabin or a nicer room and just hole up for a week or two.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 27 April 2008 12:18 (seventeen years ago)

we decided not to have a honeymoon right away, and plan a bigger trip a few months after. but after the stress of moving all our crap across the ocean and a wedding, all within 2 weeks, we needed a break. hopped in the car and drove up around lake superior. like kingkongvsgodzilla's thought, it was great to have beaches and parks to ourselves, it was generally very quiet and chilled and not planned at all. really really good fun, actually.

colette, Sunday, 27 April 2008 17:46 (seventeen years ago)

I don't want to go to Air & Space museum unless it is possible to have seeecretttt ssseeeeexxxxx in a spaceship.

No man, I never been east of the Mississippi (not since I was five, anyway), and I wanna just go check out the Smithsonian and chill. And the library of Congress! I mean the idea is giving me boners. And eat some fucking delish food and have people clean up after me for like a week. That's basically all anyone wants in life, right? Chillaxed fun time. Keeping it fun in the oh eight.

Abbott, Sunday, 27 April 2008 18:26 (seventeen years ago)

I don't want to go to Europe or anywhere bcz I wouldn't be able to go there again in some whiles and I'd feel like 'zomg gotta ingest it all.'

Abbott, Sunday, 27 April 2008 18:27 (seventeen years ago)

if i could go anywhere for a honeymoon it would be spain. and i would ingest as much food as possible, yes.

bell_labs, Sunday, 27 April 2008 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

Mr. Que and I did a delayed honeymoon (~6 mos after we got hitched) starting in SF and ending in Seattle 10 days later; it was very very very fun and thank god it turns out that I love travelling with this man, because we'd never really done a true trip before that.

Abbott if you come to DC I promise all the dcilxors will gather to throw rice and you and drink beers and eat awesome food and whatnot! Also do not forget that there are actually two (2) Air and Space museums now, one in DC proper and one not too far away in Northern Virginia!

quincie, Sunday, 27 April 2008 22:06 (seventeen years ago)

erm throw rice AT you, not throw rice AND you. That would not be a very nice thing to do to a new wifey.

quincie, Sunday, 27 April 2008 22:08 (seventeen years ago)
