So, who leads the table in terms of evilness in the fictional realm? Who's the lamest bad guy or girl?

jel --, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I can't think of an answer for this either.

jel --, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best baddies are Dick Dastardly and Muttley.

Lamest-Skeletor from He-Man. I mean his voice was like an 80 year old woman or something. And he wore a hoodie.

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

All Bond villains are rubbish. (And Davros, but we've done DW recently, so LEAVE IT!)

Mojo Jojo has to be up there, but seriously Servalan is the most evil character EVAH! Great lines from recent repeats:
(Switches of communicator and says to no one in particular) "Soon, very soon, the crimino-therapists will have their sport with you" and on another repeat "I will have that vulpine degenerate eviscerated".

Fantastic.

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Skeletor=Indie obv.

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Skeletor was twee. Just look at that face!

Nicole, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"beeeeeeastman you klutz"

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

what's the deal with minions? baddies are only as good as their crew!!

i heart dr evil, oh and GLORY obv

mark s, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Muttley is the best minion there is.

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best Baddie = Dr. Doom! He has an entire country of minions!

Worst Baddie = Lex Luthor. Oh he is bald I am so so scared...

Andrew L, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Evil-est = Dr. Evil

Really the evilest = Matty in 'Body Heat'

I thought Glory was a bit lame as a villain, actually.

Jeff W, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

re glory: i liked the extreme elizabeth wurtzel-ness of her, and she made me laff

also HER minions were very extreme cartoons of useless minions (haha one of them was a GIRL, but looked identical to all the others: dr vick pointed and said "you want to go out with her, don't you?"

mark s, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

lamest baddies = TEAM ROCKET!!

best baddie evah = "nero" from Dangermouse. sure, Baron Greenback was the titular enemy but WE KNEW that Nero CONTROLLED ALL!

katie, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

evil = Mumm-Ra.

Jonnie, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The scooby doo villains were always great, though they've been parodied enough already. It was a nice social commentary that they were always some bitter lackey, like a chef or a steward or something.

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

as often as not you'd get a boss though. i remember one with a boss of an oil company using ghost ships to... um, corner the market? or something.

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Braxus 'Lord of the Pit' (in Beastmaster III, screened on C5 about 3- 4 weeks ago).

BRAXUS (to unseen creatures in the pit): "Come my people, the hour of your release is at hand. Come, and we will spread hell-fire across the land!"

BEASTMASTER: "Not so fast Braxus. You have to deal with me first.."

David, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i always thought the villain from cinderella was awesome - what with the dragon-transforming turn and whatnot - but, uh, what's her name?

dave k, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You're thinking of Maleficient from Sleeping Beauty, I believe.

So it's obvious, but surely Sauron ranks up there. He's just a huge flaming eye sitting around and has millions of slaves, all while corrupting others.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Davros was, is, and always will be for sucks. The best Doctor Who baddies would have to include The MASTER, Omega, The Black Guardian, and the Nestene Consciousness.

Dan Perry, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best baddie ever was Zsa Zsa Gabor in Queen Of Outer Space.

Ally C, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ming the Merciless. HAL 9000: malfunctioning is a fine excuse for much evilness

ducklingmonster, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cruella De Ville. She wanted to kill PUPPIES! For a coat! The horror!

Kim, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Montgomery Burns

excellent...

electric sound of jim, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cruella De Ville is a wuss a REAL villain needs no reason to kill puppies

mark s, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

krang.

geeta, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Shockwave from the Deceptacons was the badassest minion. He turned into a boombox and had the three little dudes that would pop out of his cassette mechanism: the wolf, the little earthquake maker and the hawk. Plus, when Megatron morphed into that gun, it was Shockwave that got to peel back the Autobots wigs!!

Ron, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That was Soundwave (quite true, though, about him being the coolest!). Shockwave (transformed into purple ray gun; in the cartoon, he was the Decepticon who stayed behind on Cybertron) was a cool baddie as well, with his stately British voice and HAL-like eye.

How about SPECTRE minion Red Grant (Robert Shaw) from "From Russia with Love"? The Bond villain who came the closest to killing 007.

Joe, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Has anyone seen the cartoon Inhumanoids?? Rhino recently re-released it, but I think there were only about 6 episodes. One of the bad guys is called Decompose and is a badass - if he touches you you turn into a zombie and become one of his legion, and he could open up his ribcage and put you in there and carry you around the underworld while his hideous screetching echoes through the caverns...

Thanks for the Soundwave correction, Joe.

Ron, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

glory. and the mayor from series 3 of buffy. best buffy villains = the camp ones. worst by far = adam who was just boring.

toby, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I always liked Starscream as a minion, his mechanical heart was totally not into doing the hard work of destroying the autobots, he wanted power without the effort.

jel --, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Soundwave had some size issues in the cartoon. He would transform and shrink. So would Megatron. It was *so* unrealistic. Nothing beats the friggin planet eatin', Orson Wells speakin', Unicorn. The Transformers movie was one of the most traumatic events in my childhood.

bnw, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Some good ones: Dr. Doom, Mojo Jojo, the guy with the monotone voice on the Deceptacons side, Skeletor, Mummra, Deadpool, those demons from Ninja Scroll, Mystique, Darth Vader, the Ring Wraiths..... etc. etc. Too many to count.

Honda, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm down with Glory too; she *is* Courtney Love.

George Sanders always made an excellent villain.

suzy, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Villains are only as good as their theme music so Dick Dasterdly wins it for his theme in the wacky races. Ming the Merciless had his theme done by queen so he's high up. And Finally, The Hooded Claw, who put penelope pitstop in so much peril, has to get a vote for being Liberace, no that's what I call evil.

Ed, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hottest villian has to be Faith (from Buffy), ROWRRR. There was something sexy about her slum-like apartment, too.

nickn, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This character isn't really a villian but man do I love to hate tony's flakey sister on the Sopranos. what a f'in idiot.
