Party Clearing Music Playlist

Last night, my neighbour was drunk and lonely and as usual, he comes around at 11:30 pm and is really hard to get rid of. I even talked about religion and he still wouldn't leave.

Well, I'm having a housewarming party on Saturday and he's coming. It's reminded me that I might need party clearing music. My copy of Minor Threat's "Complete Discography" and Captain Beefheart should be able to clear out most people, right?

What else should I put on the playlist to clear out the party?

jandek acapellas
that 40 minute hidden track on the flaming lips 'hit to death in the future head'

Pi, as read by Ned Raggett, but only if played at deafening volume.

Damn, this is going to be difficult.

Oh wait, I know. RRRecords 500, which is 500 lockgrooves, 250 on each side. Any one of them would work, some better than others.

PS Actually a really fucking awesome record

Z S, Thursday, 1 May 2008 03:29 (seventeen years ago)

Jandek acapellas and RRR lock grooves OTM

also:

Diamanda Galas, "Blind Man's Cry" or "Wild Women With Steak Knives"

Zos Kia "Rape"

Merzbow

Whitehouse

Aimless' suggestion also good.

Diamanda would work a treat. Bless her.

Birthday Party - Prayers On Fire.

Or perhaps bad music is your key. Like Metallica's Some Kind of Monster. Or the Methods of Mayhem album. Rockstar Supernova? Surely Lukas could clear a room....

Never underestimate the probability of people actually liking music that is clearly awful.

Z S, Thursday, 1 May 2008 04:49 (seventeen years ago)

Example: Foo Fighters "Times Like These"

Richard Marx's Repeat Offender album.

The name says it all!

These suggestions so far are almost entirely made up of assumptions that the people at your party are so boring as to run away as soon as any, um... 'challenging' music is put on. Why would you want to party with these people anyway? (Oh, right, you don't, that's why you're chasing them away! I still don't understand, gah.)

There's challenging music that is extremely enjoyable in the context of listening alone with headphones or whatever which just isn't party music. I like Squarepusher, but I'd get annoyed if someone put his stuff on at a party.

chap, Friday, 2 May 2008 22:50 (seventeen years ago)

just yell at people if you want them to leave

why be passive-aggressive about it

s1ocki, Friday, 2 May 2008 22:51 (seventeen years ago)

bang silver ware on glass, big announcement, "OK, TIME TO GO HOME!"

followed by Willie Nelson, "The Party's Over"
