ITV has been fined a record £5.68m by Ofcom for abusing premium rate phone services in viewer competitions.

The media regulator said the fine was by far the highest ever imposed and reflected the seriousness of ITV's failures and their repeated nature.

TV shows Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Gameshow Marathon and Soapstar Superstar were all found to have "serious editorial issues".

ITV admits comedy award deception

ITV has revealed that The Catherine Tate Show was robbed of a prize at the 2005 British Comedy Awards.

Although Tate collected more votes for the People's Choice Award, Ant and Dec were announced as the winners.

It is thought that presenter Robbie Williams was given assurances that Ant and Dec would win. The duo say they will return the prize.

That's a rare 'Dec and Ant' photo. Or at least before they became the household figures of rip-off they are today, in which Ant is always on the left and Dec on the right. Just so we know which is which.

From what I've heard they're both on the Right.

A few days ago I heard that Dec spent the entire morning hungry because he didn't realise the browning knob was up too high on his toaster, burnt his toast and didn't have enough time to make another batch before leaving for work. I didn't post it here because I thought no one would be interested.

It's one thing to make a lot of money under false pretences, but when you start awarding yourself the prizes too....
