lol letterbox

Gukbe, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 23:43 (seventeen years ago)

I've seen both of these.

Is this pole about which one is worse? Or which one is "better"? Or which one is worse in a good way?

Gukbe, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

it doesn't matter

latebloomer, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

when you stop caring, the polls will mean nothing

Gukbe, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

i guess it's "which one you like better"

latebloomer, Tuesday, 13 May 2008 23:47 (seventeen years ago)

* George Clooney was originally attached to the project but when he left to do Batman & Robin, ex-Batman Michael Keaton was re-cast into the lead role. This caused no end of trouble for the Jim Henson's Creature Shop because they had designed their snowman animatronic specifically to Clooney's facial features and acting style.

* Sam Raimi was once attached to the film as director and even wrote a draft of the script with his brother Ivan Raimi.

JF96 fo sho mostly cause the stupid 98 Jack Frost doesn't have a skull head

iiiijjjj, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 00:06 (seventeen years ago)

The Keaton one is revolting because it's vilely saccharine about a boy whose dad is a snowman. The 1996 one is revolting because the snowman's carrot moves down to his "crotch" area to make an erect penis, which I do not recall if he uses to fuck someone or not.

Abbott, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

I have seen both of these and they are disparate in tone but equal in extreme lack of quality control.

Abbott, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 00:14 (seventeen years ago)

oh i forgot to mention the sequel:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0239496/

In this sequel of the first Jack Frost movie, Sheriff Sam Tiler, his wife Anne, and Sam's two deputies (also husband and wife) decide to go on a Caribbean vacation to take their minds off the traumatic events of the previous movie in a place with absolutely no snow. Their holiday will be short-lived, however, as the thawed murderer gets inadvertantly re-frozen and brought back to life. As if that weren't bad enough, he now has the ability to remain frozen even in tropical temperatures, and he's headed south to settle some old scores.

latebloomer, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 00:19 (seventeen years ago)

the lone tidbit from the trivia section:

*It rained the entire four weeks of shooting the movie, resulting in a tropical island with an amazing lack of sun.

latebloomer, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 00:20 (seventeen years ago)

i vote for the rankin-bass one:

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 02:56 (seventeen years ago)

I always thought the tagline for the 1996 Jack Frost was "ICE...to see you!"

Or is that Ahnold in Batman?

lol i just came here to post "to see the snowman is to dislike the snowman"

and what, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 03:27 (seventeen years ago)

The 1996 one is revolting because the snowman's carrot moves down to his "crotch" area to make an erect penis, which I do not recall if he uses to fuck someone or not.

That's absolutely brilliant. Plus the "genetic mutation" accident, come on! I mean, where's the Troma love here?

libcrypt, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 03:29 (seventeen years ago)

i think its actually a rape scene

gr8080, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 03:33 (seventeen years ago)

I left the room before any...penetration...or anything, so game's given away: I didn't see the whole movie.

Abbott, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 04:35 (seventeen years ago)

His VOICE was so terrible.

Abbott, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 04:36 (seventeen years ago)

I sat through 2/3rds of the Keaton one. A very painful hour of my life.

abanana, Wednesday, 14 May 2008 04:41 (seventeen years ago)

and doesn't he make a really bad pun that doesn't even make sense like "Christmas comes early this year!" ??

I have also seen both of these movies and the Keaton snowman is WAY scarier looking. Seriously, even on the boxes above - WAY creepier!

ILX System, Friday, 30 May 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

The secular concept of reincarnation (into a SNOWMAN) set against the background of a Christian festival? What the hell?

At least the 1996 one looks mildly entertaining.

JTS, Saturday, 31 May 2008 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

omg 96 is one of my all-time awful but hysterical and awesome horror movies!
