Kinda surprised at all the Jameson shots being ordered here... it doesn't seem like a shooter at all to me. It's not that it's too finely crafted or aboue that kind of thing -- for pity's sake the word "Irish" is right there on the bottle -- it's just not quite that kind of liquor. It's closer to scotch on the nose and a bit of the wrong kind of burn going down. You want a shot to be red flame, not blue flame, you know?

I am really ashamed of the irish car bombs because thinking about it all you're doing with that is making both baileys and guinness taste even worse than they do to begin with and spending way more money than necessary on a half-empty glass of beer that you won't even enjoy

the flaming dr pepper is also basically an ass beverage but the theatrics and the garbage quality of the ingredients in their natural state makes it more acceptable

The other night it was Jaggermeister and Summit extra pale ale for me. Been drinking a lot of that Summit for some reason.

I served many irish car bombs when I was a bartender but usually only to people who were drunk enough that they seemed a good idea. I don't think I've ever actually had one myself.

I don't understand 'em. They're okay, but it's just like, "my guiness tasted different and they made me chug it really fast, ugh". Are they really expensive? I've only had them when bought for me on birthdays and such.

I'm told that a boilermaker (dropped in the mug style) with Jager and Guiness is "Black on Black Crime."

Once invented a drink called Grizzly Adams' Flaming Beard to punish a friend for moving away and leaving us. It consisted of (let me try and remember):

half shot of cheap vodka from rifle shaped bottle.
half shot of this german honey liquor with a bear on the label.
mixed in single shot glass and vigorously topped off with Tapatio hot sauce
dropped into a glass of Sam Adams (it was some dark, thick stuff)

We did it with him because it was the only way he'd take it. My first drink of the night and I had to step outside for some air because I thought I was going to barf.

(he moved to Montana, incidentally)

the only reason to really do a shot and a beer is so you can catch up to people that are already drunker than you. four drinks in the time it takes to drink two beers.
