Looking back over the past week what's the best and worst things that happened to you?

Penny Lane, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The worst thing that happenend to me is that I spent a good proportion of the weekend just gone in bed with the flu. But on the upside I went out with friends on Friday night and met some really cool people including a rather lovely young man.

i sort of kicked a dope habit, for like about the 100th or 200th time. big deal.

why did i say 'sort of'? i actually did. i said 'sort of' because, you know. they always come back.

yep, "1st day of the rest of my life"!

The past week was horrible. Really, really horrible. This week can only be better.

Worst thing -- recuperating from the semi-flu I have. Best? A variety of small, nice situations.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best thing: singing with the Hoof & Mouth Sinfonia Sunday night. Worst thing: stressing like crazy over a certain article that comes out tomorrow.

Douglas, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best: Won $35 in the lottery. Worst: mild ear infection

Joe, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best: getting to throw around a bunch of crusty furniture at the Richmond dump. Worst: losing my backpack. I'd have the same answer even if this question was about the last 10 years, I think.

Kris, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Worst: My friend needs an abortion.
Best: Taped a program for Japanese TV.

nathalie, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Worst: major computer problems

Best: Good excuse to get that laptop!

Worst: I am not telling YOU bunch of interweb mentalists as it is PERSONAL and IRL! Also a bit upsetting. BEST: I found out that ginger wine is GRATE and only £3.09 from Tesco! Also, SUPER NOODLES, and finding out that Nigel Slater is not THAT much of a mentalist as his shredded brussels sprouts fried with bacong actually roxx0r! Actually the worst thing this week may be the realisation that my oral fixation is quite ridiculous. I supose it's better than anal. Would I be obsessed with colonic irrigation? If I was going to do colonic irrigation, I would do it the JOHNNY VEGAS style by drinking lots of Guinness to flush out all the red meat. Except it starts at the mouth.

Sarah, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Another worst thing is that I only haf £50 and want to go away up to Prestong this w/e. CHIZ.

Sarah, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The worst thing that I wish to discuss here was locking myself out last night. I put my keys and travelcard into my wallet, using the logic of 'If I leave the house I'm always going to take my wallet, aren't I? Then left it beside my bed. I had to walk round a park in the rain and wind at 5.30pm when I was meant to be visiting a friend in hospital. There was, however, a vaguely striking sunset and I got to look at flowers and stuff. Nah, I'm fooling myself. It was nasty. the best thing this week was. Um. can't think of one. I enjoyed the Royal Tenembaums. Perhaps that was the best thing.

Alix, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The worst thing was getting desperatley overworked on Friday and trying to do eight things at once because of the best thing, which was getting sent to Berlin for the weekend at the last minute.

Anna, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The worst non-personal thing has been realising how untidy I've let the flat get YET AGAIN. The best things were making a really nice sauce for some lamb, and sitting down to write about Bob Dylan and actually doing it and having it come out OK.

Tom, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the worst was probably a stinking cold that lasted all week, the best though was cooking for chums on saturday, having nice food and loads of booze, then getting up to jackass like antics, beating the night and then spending Sunday completely wrecked laughing at stupid things.

chris, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good but tiring weekend. Too much football, not enough sleep. I did get a winners medal put over my head by a pretty lady but no flowers. Lovely food on Saturday night and many laughs. Best debate was which member of Police Academy is the best (obviously it's Jones) and the worst was whether books will go down the dumper due to technology.

Jonnie, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, and the worst moment of the weekend was when Chris burped horrifically in Tesco's and a little girl thought it was me!

Jonnie, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

worst was whether books will go down the dumper due to technology.

when did we talk about that? was that when Jack came round and I lost 3 hours?

Tackleberry is cool just for the stripping off the guns scene though.

I needed to burp, there was a build up of pressure that needed release, sorry.

chris, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best - buying a lovely new stripey matching bag and hat which will no doubt cause chums to chortle as they have no sense of style. Plus I did two whole cultural things at the weekend (RT at cinema counts as culcha as it has about 3 trillion ILE threads) as oppposed to none in a normal weekend.

Worst - developing one of my consumptive hacking coughs right before I am due to go on holiday. Might have to frighten it into submission with rough French fags. Also eating too much food and turning into a huge ginormous lardy girl.

Emma, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best: While checking out a really fancy trumpet at the Frankfurt Musikmesse (I haven't actually picked up a horn in about 6 years), I am offered the chance to play it and discover that I have not, in fact, lost all the ability I ever had on the instrument.

Worst: An argument with my wife. As this seems to have actually resulted in positive change, it wasn't that bad a week.

Colin Meeder, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good and bad things don't really happen to me much.

Worst things was having to spend my day off last week visiting two people in various oncology wards.

Best thing: Possibly telling people last Thursday the eye story again - as I love that lie loads and it was nice to be out with such a large and receptive crowd.

Pete, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Best things-Having my friends over on Saturday while another friend played records. My parents were away.

Going to see Jon Carter on Sunday night and having a mental time. Everything went to plan perfectly. We even got to meet him afterwards courtesy of my friend.

Going to see Dave Clarke in a tiny venue last night, and being surprised to find Jon Carter DJing again for more than an hour. Clarke was good (ish) too. More hobknobbing here.

Worst thing-Waking up at 3 today having missed all my lectures with my mum going mental and me feeling cranky and tired. Cramps in my legs from a weekend of dancing. Assignments and articles due for tomorrow, like about 6000 words. Paying the price for going mad all weekend really.

Ronan, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

worst: disruptions caused by my horrible mood swings

best: realizing there might be a treatable cause for my mood swings

Samantha, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Worst: Feeling horribly miserable even after the things I thought were causing it had been sorted.

Best: Feeling alright now. Being able to sort things. Talking to Sara yesterday.

Graham, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Worst - general and related post-long-term-relationship-break-up stuff, but that's always going to be the case.

Best - having a birthday gathering at my house, panicking for ages about who'd turn up and if they'd get on, then getting raucously pissed and being amazed at the brilliant atmosphere. Moments worth remebering.
