Me, I'm all about the treehouse. Sorry if that sounds all XKCD of me.

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:13 (seventeen years ago)

Bat Cave vs. Swiss Family Robinson

tough one...

Kerm, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:22 (seventeen years ago)

I had my very own special playplace under the basement stairs.

Abbott, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

i always liked those treehouses that the ewoks lived in.

Rubyredd, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

I would make collages in the room under the stairs. I didn't realize spray glue needed to be used in a ventilated area. Once I figure that out, though, my horrible splitting headaches were less of a mystery.

Abbott, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:25 (seventeen years ago)

no basements here, so treehouses by default (though they were never as cool as they looked on TV)

milo z, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

yeah a treehouse was basically my childhood dream. i had an old packing crate that had been left under a huge tamarillo vine in our backyard - that was about the closest i came to improvising.

Rubyredd, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:33 (seventeen years ago)

BASEMENT

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:35 (seventeen years ago)

=)

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

omg it's hard to express my love for the basement. it feels safe, secure, fun (basement party while your parents are away fun)

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

thank you basements.

Surmounter, Friday, 23 May 2008 03:37 (seventeen years ago)

Sur I must thank yew for giving me the idea for this poll!

And I should elaborate: I mean yr most awesome fantastical setup here, so no dingey drippy creepy basements or crumbly saddo treehouses - I'm talkin "live forever after nuclear blast" self sufficient dungeon homes, and Ewok awesome tree cities!

AW YEAH thats freakin awesome!

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 04:47 (seventeen years ago)

Basements make me feel sort of sick, now, since I recently lived in one (except I have fond memories of that one my cousins had in Indiana). Tree houses, definitely, since they are less common and have more fresh air and sunlight.

bamcquern, Friday, 23 May 2008 06:22 (seventeen years ago)

'Silence of the Lambs' wouldn't have been very good in a treehouse.

S-, Friday, 23 May 2008 06:24 (seventeen years ago)

A treehouse with a secret basement in the ROOTS isn't it.

Secret basements are kind of rubbish from the outside by comparison.

Scik Mouthy, Friday, 23 May 2008 06:52 (seventeen years ago)

I vote BASEMENT.

Also, surely some of those 'treehouses' aren't really treehouses any more but rather 'houses built in wooded area that happen to be raised slightly off the ground'. Which isn't exactly true to the spirit of the treehouse.

emil.y, Friday, 23 May 2008 10:58 (seventeen years ago)

Let's face it, nobody wants to hear Bob Dylan's "Treehouse Tapes", do they?

Rob M v2, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:00 (seventeen years ago)

Holy shit Kerm I have to show that to my boss. He's what sparked me off about all this, he was talking about "just getting a backhoe and just like... digging as far as I can".

Trayce, Friday, 23 May 2008 11:27 (seventeen years ago)

but what of the awesome basement and secret treehouse contingents?

TREEHOUSE

rrrobyn, Friday, 23 May 2008 14:29 (seventeen years ago)

Treehouse treehouse! I've always wanted to live in a tree. The third picture that Nick posted is basically my fantasy home.

Anna, Friday, 23 May 2008 14:52 (seventeen years ago)

Drunk in a treehouse=plunging to serious injury or death

drunk in a basement=much safer

Oilyrags, Friday, 23 May 2008 14:57 (seventeen years ago)

I'm a much more confident climber when I'm drunk.

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)

"secret" is better than "awesome"

gff, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:32 (seventeen years ago)

shld start saying 'secret' in place of 'awesome'

rrrobyn, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

if i never had to go into a basement again i wld be happy
unless the basement was actually a series of underground rooms connected by round-walled tunnels + misssion control

rrrobyn, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:40 (seventeen years ago)

"ahh dude that's so secret"

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

I also like to replace awesome with wizard.

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

Or hammock, but no one else seems to like that one.

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 23 May 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

Oh and I voted secret basement. I like to tinker and lurk.

RabiesAngentleman, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:12 (seventeen years ago)

crutsis's awesome borad - no one can object to that, that's totally hammock.

slugbuggy, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:26 (seventeen years ago)

I want both.

jel --, Friday, 23 May 2008 16:59 (seventeen years ago)

I remember asking my dad to build me something resembling the tree village in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in the backyard.

For me, the secret basement. You can jam in there, you can take girls down there and impress them... you become the coolest teenager on the block.

moley, Sunday, 25 May 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

6-13 treehouse, 13+ basement.

Jarlrmai, Sunday, 25 May 2008 23:09 (seventeen years ago)
