I want to know what Dr. Vick thought as well!

i hope they found it funny. i would dearly love to know! :)

I'm surprised they haven't let us know yet.

Alix, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My guess is that it didn't tickle either of them. I, on the other hand, larfed non-stop. How about you, Lixi?

Tim, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

How comes nobody mentions 'The Royal Tenenbaums' round here? (MC5...Vanessa Mae...)

Andrew L, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm glad you larfed non-stop Tim. I wonder though if there was any stoppage time in the larffter of Mark. Or indeed Dr Vick?

Tom, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I chortled throughout. I would like to see it again, but must stop seeing films twice, as I equate this with mentalism.

i was also wondering what Mark S and Dr Vick thought of that new film, the royal tenembaums. maybe i should start a new thread?

gareth, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I should put this on the other five RT threads - but did anyone notice the big implied Good Will Hunting gag running through the film. Good Will Hunting = film about a genius (mathsXor). Royal Tenenbaums film about geniuses (artsXor & sportsXor). Bill Murray = comedian sporting beard playing a psychologist. Robin Williams = comedian with beard playing psychologist. Elliot Smith did soundtrack to GWH, Elliot Smith on RT soundtrack.

Pete, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nope, never spotted that. Never saw GWH either. Too jowly. Perhaps that's why. Jowly. Don't ask me to define it.

Alix, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wasn't there meant to be Mag Ambersons refs in there? I saw it this w/e and some twunt was larfing non-stop. He had a gurls voice and was larfing (as I say non-stop) at every line, regardless of comedy value. This is true. It slightly ruined a pretty good (to middling OK) film for me.

What I want to know is, has anyone else here seen RT and larfed non-stop through it? And do they have a gurls laugh?

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of morons who larf at inane things - when people fall over and that sort of thing. That really pisses me off. Obviously the clientele at the ritzy are more sophisticated than I thought.

Alix, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

ARGH

Josh, Tuesday, 19 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Clearly the only possible solution at this point is to burn all copies of the film, bury Wes Anderson up to his neck in fire ants, and vigilantly suppress further mention of larfing at said movie.
