Why do men hate Sarah Jessica Parker?

It's all about the pinky on her left hand. Hateful thing that it is.

Aimless, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

i think she's sexy (and that the "horseface" thing is really tired). i'm not a man though.

get bent, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)

I think she's kind of MOR attractive. It's also extremely stupid to depict the opinion of Maxim as the opinion of 'men' but I have noticed a real vitriol reserved for SJP.

bingolola, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:41 (seventeen years ago)

that's a big Twix K. Davis is gonna eat

gabbneb, Monday, 26 May 2008 18:56 (seventeen years ago)

she's just not very physically attractive, sorry. neither am i, or millions of other people, big whup.

teh men, BAAAH!

t**t, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

sad dads like her

chaki, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:09 (seventeen years ago)

My dad burst into giggles everytime the bus drove past and splashed her with water. It was demented. It was worse than the time he said 'panties'

bingolola, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:12 (seventeen years ago)

they find the character she plays annoying

mookieproof, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:19 (seventeen years ago)

in my experience calling a girl annoying is guy for "im gonna try and fuck that chick". its an instant break up in my book.

-- sunny successor, Wednesday, March 5, 2008 1:47 PM

not in this way

mookieproof, Monday, 26 May 2008 19:20 (seventeen years ago)

she seems all twitchy and brittle to me. like she'd squirm or break in half if you put your arms around her.

m coleman, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:02 (seventeen years ago)

they find the character she plays annoying

OTM. She reminds them of women they've known who manufacture and create drama in relationships for no apparent reason other than some kind of perverse pleasure from being upset and sad and complaining about it to friends.

Super Cub, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:09 (seventeen years ago)

she was way hot in flight of the navigator.

caek, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:11 (seventeen years ago)

It's not a SATC thing at all, FHM was doing "lol check out this ugly chick" schtick as far back as Mars Attacks.

To be fair, she is pretty hard to look at.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:13 (seventeen years ago)

Not ugly, just really really hard to look at. Like Madonna nowadays.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:13 (seventeen years ago)

I remember reading that quote by sunny successor a while back... I didn't understand. When I say a chick is annoying I mean that she's fucking annoying.

RabiesAngentleman, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:15 (seventeen years ago)

If that warrants instant break up someone needs to really coach me on what to say and what not to say to women.

RabiesAngentleman, Monday, 26 May 2008 20:16 (seventeen years ago)

she should stop her whining abt being voted the unsexiest woman alive and use that energy to incrementally increase her sexiness until shes voted the sexiest woman alive

Does this mean "conventionally pretty"? Because I really couldn't see that, whatever else she may be.

personally, i am completely ambivalent about sarah jessica parker. but yeh, this:

She reminds them of women they've known who manufacture and create drama in relationships for no apparent reason other than some kind of perverse pleasure from being upset and sad and complaining about it to friends

is fucking spot on.

Tom D., Tuesday, 27 May 2008 10:03 (seventeen years ago)

I think she's fairly ugly, but beating (for example) Bella Emberg to "unsexiest woman in the world" requires more than physical unattractiveness. I think it's partly what Super Cub nailed upthread, coupled with good, old fashioned thinking-she's-all-that-but-actually-being-not-all-that (note that Bella is unafflicted in either of these areas).

Hi nick, I refer you to the current NME/MM thread.

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 11:21 (seventeen years ago)

she has too many "ah" sound in her names, if you speak in a dialect that says "ah" "a" and "er" in the same way.

and that is tedious.

ken c, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 11:30 (seventeen years ago)

unless mentioned in a Fall song.

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 11:40 (seventeen years ago)

she was really funny in LA Story, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks! and as a kid in Square Pegs. And the first couple years of S&TC. And then, POWERRRRRR.

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 13:33 (seventeen years ago)

Also I'm guessing she's way older than she claims to be.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 16:20 (seventeen years ago)

I don't think she's that bad-looking, myself. I never really think about her at all unless I see an advert on a hoarding with her photog, and even then, I don't think much.

LOL @ readers of "Maxim" magazine, lovers of women photoshopped till they look like realdoll, voting anyone "unsexy".

Pashmina, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 16:26 (seventeen years ago)

Emily: HAHAHAHAHAHAH, Family Guy!

Yes I still do. She's not a bad actress but she is in too many sex-related movies when she's pretty unattractive. Kudos to her for being proud of herself enough to be in explicit scenes. Ugh!

Hmm, making her mind up there.

Mark G, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 16:28 (seventeen years ago)

She hasn't done anything wrong, I feel bad for my vague antipathy toward her.

Dom Passantino, Tuesday, 27 May 2008 16:30 (seventeen years ago)

Please give pardon to my English to gay Broderick. He is perfection in Doogie Howitzer's Day Off. I loved him too in Meeting with Your Mother, very good show for the tv. Is it still?
If I were american and a gay and a man I should like to take the Day Off with gay Broderick. Pardon my fun words.
Didn't the school boss in that movie get gay photos of a boy Broderick's age? Where he now in jail? Did this what make the Broderick a gay?

jaymc, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 05:43 (fifteen years ago)

I'm more curious about why women like her. What redeeming qualities does she have? The best I can come up with is that she's so manifestly unlikable and unattractive that she doesn't set off the animal-level "that bitch!" jealousy reflex

Dan I., Wednesday, 26 May 2010 07:59 (fifteen years ago)

uhh, that sounds misogynistic. I mean, obviously guys have that on-sight hatred/jealousy thing for other guys too, but SJP is a woman, so

misanthropy saves the day.

estela, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 08:15 (fifteen years ago)

xp to Johnny Fever: That's awesome that she's awesome. My wife and I were just complaining last night abot how bummed we were that she was in such a trash as SATC, when we both thought of her primarily as Gracie Law.

Three Word Username, Wednesday, 26 May 2010 12:09 (fifteen years ago)

The first Christmas I spent with my husband's sisters was the year SJP had just released her first perfume, "Lovely." So the older sister opens her gift from the younger sister, and it's a set of Lovely perfume stuff, and they both start crying and hugging and saying how much they love each other. An hour later, the younger sister opens the gift from her older sister, which is another set of Lovely perfume stuff, the exact same one. And, instead of being like 'lol got you the same thing,' they repeated the exact same crying/hugging/praising sentimental act like the first gift exchange had never happened.

I knew, too, that a big part of why it meant so much to both of them was that it was Sarah Jessica Parker's perfume. I have never witnessed such an act of celebrity-related tears of joy before or since.

I've liked her ever since "Square Pegs" myself. That "Do I really have a face like a horse?" line in "Ed Wood" was apparently her own addition, which is pretty awes. And I think her nose is just fine.

Race Against Rockism (Myonga Vön Bontee), Monday, 19 September 2011 03:52 (fourteen years ago)

Ask any woman and she will tell you - no, she will gush - that Sarah Jessica Parker glows. That both she and the iconic character she plays are sources of inspiration, even emulation. They love her, and when her movie arrives, they will line up, Manolo to Manolo.
(from one of the articles in the OP)

What the shit is this shit. I find her and the rest of them and everything about that show utterly abhorrent.
