~*Feeling Lucky*~
A Justin Timberlake Short Story
Original Fanfic by Meg
TheCur✧✧✧@ya✧✧✧.c✧✧

It was after 10 pm and the bus was finally pulling into the city where *Nsync would spend the night before the show the next day. They had been on a bus for more than 8 straight hours and finally it was time to check into a hotel for the night.

Justin noisily rummaged through the kitchenet on the bus, throwing empty cereal boxes out of the cupboards and making quite a mess. "I can never find anything in here.." he grumbled to himself.

Frustrated, he stormed up to the front of the bus.

"Jeff, I'm all out of cereal."

The bus driver glanced at him, "And.. your point is?"

"I get cranky when I don't have my cereal."

"I can see that," Jeff laughed.

"Can you stop at the next store and let me out, take the guys to the hotel and then come back to get me? That should give me enough time to get what I need."

"Sure," Jeff smiled. The neon sign of a 24-hour Winn Dixie was approaching and the driver took the small detour and pulled into the parking lot.

Justin went to the back of the bus to tell the other guys what was happening. "Hey, I'm stopping here to get some cereal. Anyone else want anything?"

"I could go for some chips," Lance said quickly.

"Chex mix for me please," answered JC.

"Mountain Dew!" yelled Chris from his spot in front of the Playstation2.

"Actually, I wanted to pick up the new issue of Playboy," Joey grinned devilishly. "I think it came out yesterday."

Justin rolled his eyes. "Ok, that's enough. Next time you guys need to start a grocery list."

As Justin walked back up to the front of the bus Lonnie stood up, ready to go with him. "Nah, man.. it's ok. It's almost 10:30. I'm sure there will be hardly anyone there." Justin pulled on a hat and and pair of shades. "I'll be cool without you."

Lonnie hesitatingly nodded and sat back down. Justin hopped off the bus, stepped through the sliding doors of the store and made a beeline for the breakfast aisle.

Ashley was extremely bored, waiting at the register. It was late night on a weekend and her shift was over in a couple minutes. No one was in the store and she hadn't had a customer in over an hour. She picked up the latest Teen People from the magazine rack next to her which pictured Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears on the cover. "Ugh," she groaned. "Just what I wanted to see." She casually flipped through the magazine, passing time until she could get out of the place.

Justin wandered down the cereal aisle looking at all the colorful choices. He grabbed random boxes and threw them into his cart. He nearly ate a whole box every morning and the bus was completely cleaned out, so he had to stock up for at least another few days. After collecting around 10 different kinds he wandered down the other empty aisles to pick up the stuff for the other guys, along with a gallon of milk, and then headed for the register.

There was only one open. And it was a girl. She was flipping through a magazine. A magazine with HIM on the cover. Justin looked into his cart and saw the Playboy he had picked up for Joey. *Great..* he thought. *This is just the kind of headline I need: "Justin Timberlake picks up porno in local grocery store!"* On the last few feet to the register Justin tossed the magazine on a shelf. He began to unload his cart onto the conveyor belt.

Ashley set the magazine aside and began scanning box after box of cereal. She had never seen someone buy so much cereal in her entire life... She looked up at the young man who was making the odd purchase and he smiled.

Her hand froze over the scanner. She knew that smile. And that tacky trucker hat.. she knew that too. After a few moments she regained hr composure and tried to keep calm as she continued his check out.

Justin looked her over. She was pretty. Shoulder-length blonde hair, deep brown eyes..

"This is my favorite," she said, snapping Justin back to reality. She held up a box of Lucky Charms.

"Oh, I'm more of an Oreo O's man myself." He grinned. "Or Apple Jacks. Or Cap'n Crunch. Actually I guess I'm just a cereal guy all the way around."

Ashley laughed. "Yeah, I can tell. My name's Ashley." Her heart was beating a mile a minute. She was talking to Justin. Justin Timberlake was right in front of her!

"Nice to meet you. I'm Justin," Justin looked out the window. The bus wasn't back yet. It hadn't taken him as long to shop as he thought. "So, do you wanna share a bowl with me while I wait for my ride?"

Ashley stopped. "What?"

He smirked as he handed over the money for the groceries. "If you can take a moment we can have a bowl of Lucky Charms.."

Ashley looked at her watch. It was 10:30. Her shift was over. "Yeah, actually I.. I.. I'm just finished now." She gave Justin his change. "There's some bowls and stuff in the break room."

"Lead the way," he smiled.

Ashley lead and Justin walked a few steps behind. He noticed how her hair swayed when she walked and how sexily her hips moved.

Meanwhile, Ashley was freaking out. *This is not happening to me. I'm dreaming. I have to be dreaming. This is not real. Oh. My. God.* She didn't reveal her thoughts to Justin however, as she entered the break room and pulled out two bowls and spoons.

They made their way back to the front of the store and sat on a bench in front of the large glass paneling so Justin could see when his ride pulled up. He pulled his Lucky Charms and milk out of the bags and poured them each a bowl. Justin took his bowl and spoon and began pushing the dry pieces of cereal under the milk until they were all covered. He was suprised to look up and see Ashley doing the same thing.

She saw him looking at her strangely. "I have to have them all covered in milk before I eat them," she blushed. "I've eaten cereal that way ever since I can remember."

"Me too," Justin smiled.

She smiled back and took a bite. "Mmmm.. I haven't had these for so long."

Justin nodded in agreement. Then they both ate silently until all that was left was the sugared milk. Ashley didn't want to embarass herself in front of him by slurping it up, even though she knew that was the best part. Then Justin suprised her by doing that exact thing, so she followed along. They both set their bowls down at the same time and Ashley began to giggle.

"What?" Justin looked confused.

"You.. you've grown a white mustache." She took her thumb and brushed the milk off his upper lip. His lips were soft and smooth. Then they caught each others' glance and their eyes locked for the first time. Justin felt himself being dragged into her deep pools of chocolate brown and Ashley felt the same way as she stared into his dazzling blues.

*Honk honk!* The moment was broken as Justin turned to look out the window. The bus was here. He grabbed his cereal and milk and put them in the bag. He stood up and Ashley followed.

"Thanks, that was nice. It was a pleasure to meet you Ashley," Justin smiled down at her.

Ashley could only nod. Justin bent down and placed a small kiss on her cheek, smiled, picked up his bags and went back out the sliding glass doors of the store. She was speechless as he boarded the bus, turning only once to wave goodbye. She waved back as the bus slowly pulled out of the parking lot.

She put her hand up to her cheek where Justin had just kissed her moments before. Her cheeks were hot and she could tell her face was bright red. It wasn't a dream after all. He was real. And she was sure she would never be able to eat cereal any morning hereafter without thinking of this night again.

DREAMS

Tape Store, Thursday, 5 June 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

1.Cinnamon Toast Crunch (or whatever bagged generic is trying to be CTC)
2.Grape Nuts
3.Golden Grahams
4.Life
5.Cocoa Puffs
6.Honey Nut Cheerios
7.Corn Flakes
8.Fruity Pebbles
9.Crunch Berries
10.Ezekiel 4:9

When I buy cereal, I buy these most, or at all. I actually never buy Fruity Pebbles or Crunch Berries, that's just nostalgia. I bought some Ezekiel 4:9 and it took a while to finish that box. It was okay if I added honey to the mix, otherwise it was a chore to chew that flavorless mulch. I can't get over Cinnamon toast crunch.

Trip Maker, Friday, 6 June 2008 14:09 (seventeen years ago)

Wait, Ezekiel was a serious nod?!

Tape Store, Friday, 6 June 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

Well, I bought some once. The list is an attempt at remembering the last ten types of cereal I actually bought and ate. When I was a kid, I ate a lot of that sugar loaded cereal. I don't touch the stuff now.
I'm on a bulk granola and yogurt kick. I eat my Cinammon Toast Crunch for dessert, usually. Or just as an anytime snack. Rarely in the morning.

Trip Maker, Friday, 6 June 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)

"I don't touch the stuff now."
Clearly, this isn't the case. CTC and Golden Grahams and honey nut Cheerios and Life are my "go to" corporate sugar cereals.

Sleepy, Derek stretched his body and rolled over to Meredith’s side of bed with the intention of snuggling with her. Just that as he did that, he found her side of bed empty. Derek opened his eyes, slowly adjusting them at light and saw that Meredith was missing. Confused, he stood up and looked around him. Everything was silent. He thought for a second that Meredith might have woken up early to be able to sneak out and go to hospital; but then he shook his head refusing that Meredith would let him down. He got out of bed and stumbled sleepy on his way outside. As he reached to the top of the stairs, Derek felt guilty for suspecting Meredith of escape even for a second. He could hear some noises coming from kitchen and guessed that it couldn’t have been anyone else but Meredith. Derek chuckled and climbed down the stairs hurried, curious of what ‘surprise’ Meredith was preparing in such a dangerous place for her, as the kitchen.

He slowed his steps as he approached to kitchen and tiptoed. Derek leaned against the doorway, arms folded against the chest, watching amazed Meredith’s back.

Meredith had her back turned to doorway and she seemed much focused on what she was doing at table, so Derek’s appearance passed unnoticed by her.

Without any sound, Derek tiptoed to her and stopped a few inches behind her. Curious to find out first what she was doing there, Derek looked over her shoulder and smiled shaking slowly from his head.

Meredith was decorating a chocolate cake, judging by its message, Derek’s birthday cake. He almost burst into laugh after he read its message again.

‘Happy birthday, Derk!’ was written with cream.

Derek put an arm around her waist, making her jump scared, while his other arm sneaked beside her and wiped with his finger from cream, purposely ruining his miswritten name.

“Derek!” Meredith shouted nervous slapping hard his hand. “Look what have you done!”

Derek licked his finger chuckling and then brought her in his arms. Nuzzling through her hair, his face breathed across her neck and kissed her. “Is this my birthday cake?” He asked.

“Yeah” Meredith grumbled nervous trying to repair what Derek had smudged. “It might not taste great, but at least allow me to me it presentable.”

Derek didn’t want to ruin her feelings because it was obvious that Meredith didn’t notice that she had written his name wrong. “I’m sorry.” He apologized, sounding guilty indeed. “But it tastes great. At least the cream does.” He chuckled and kissed her on cheek.

“It’s rum flavored.” Meredith mumbled a little comforted by his apologizes and kisses.

“I noticed. My favorite.” He kissed her again and then pulled back to go lean against the table and watch her. “Thank you!” Derek fixed his gaze on her face, unable to hide the contagious smile from his lips.

Meredith smiled back at him and then took the syringe and refilled it with cream so that she could re-write Derek’s name. “Make sure that you put the second ‘e’ on my name.” He chuckled.

Meredith looked at him with a glare. “What’s that suppose to mean?” She asked him angrier this time, though she still didn’t know what he was talking about.

“Nothing” Derek stroked gently her cheek, smiling while staring in her eyes for a moment. “What do you want for breakfast?” He asked her, already heading toward refrigerator.

“I’m not really hungry.” Meredith replied, carefully writing Derek’s name on cake again.

“Milk and cereals then.” Derek said and took out the box with milk and the box with cereals from cabinet.

While Derek set the breakfast for them, Meredith finished with Derek’s cake. She fumbled through drawers after something until she found it. She took out a candle and planted it in the centre of the cake. Then she took a match and lighted the candle. Meredith picked the plate up and went over to Derek. “Make a wish.” Meredith brought the cake in front of him smiling. Derek smiled looking in her eyes. “And don’t make that wish.” Meredith warned him smiling.

“Hey! You don’t get to rule my whishes.” Derek protested laughing. “Ok so here goes my wish…” He said and paused for a moment while he repeated it in his mind, then blew in candle.

“Happy birthday, Derek!” Meredith smiled.

Derek took the cake from her hands and put it back on table. Now that they were free hands again, Derek brought her in his arms and held her head between his hands while kissing her passionate. “Cereals and cake after?” Derek suggested.

“And some sex in the end.” Meredith added.

Derek smirked laughing and still holding her head in his hands, he pressed a kiss on forehead. “I love you!”
