― Jordan, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:04 (seventeen years ago)
you already have a thread for that. this thread is for seafood cooked in lime.
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:06 (seventeen years ago)
Ceviche and pisco sours, now that is a hot weather dinner.
― Ed, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:07 (seventeen years ago)

WANT SHRIMPS AND AVOCADO
― Laurel, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:09 (seventeen years ago)
for lunch today i had fruit 'cooked' in lime, with mint, and raw seafood with avocado
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:10 (seventeen years ago)
i think i have an avocado problem
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:11 (seventeen years ago)
you don't have any?
― carne asada, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:11 (seventeen years ago)
where in brooklyn besides coco roco?
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:13 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, i've been sitting down with an avocado and a spoon lately.
― Jordan, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:13 (seventeen years ago)
(though i think we may go to coco roca for dinner)
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:14 (seventeen years ago)
u know i've been craving this, but i'm still not entirely sure i understand the process. and i'm not sure if it makes me uncomfortable or not. i remember eating it and finding it delicious tho.
― Surmounter, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:16 (seventeen years ago)
Jordan's ceviche looks good. I like a good variety of seacreatures in my ceviche; sometimes it'll be all whitefish or all shrimp, screw that.
― wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:19 (seventeen years ago)
Put some soy sauce on that avocado and you will be dying, it's so good.
Ceviche would so be the way to go right now, but will settle for hand rolls or summer rolls as a carrier for hoisin.
― suzy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:20 (seventeen years ago)
hmmmmm i need some seafoods now.
― tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)
Pio Pio in jackson heights has awesome ceviche and pisco sours, the queue would suck in the heat (it sucked pretty bad at 20˚F too)
― Ed, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:25 (seventeen years ago)
there are 3 Pio Pios in Manhattan
― gabbneb, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)
This is news to me.
― Ed, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:29 (seventeen years ago)
i actually didn't care for the ceviche at the ballfields much. it was soc cold that seafood was tasteless.
the black clam ceviche at el tesoro (ecuadorian place in sunset park) was a+, and i like the mixed kind at pio pio riko in grnpt.
― lauren, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 20:35 (seventeen years ago)
uh, that should be "so cold that the seafood..." DUH.

I made ceviche in a dream the other night and I put this whole giant octopus in it and remember really clearly eating this monstrous tentacle and it was delicious.
I made ceviche in real life the other day and it wasn't as exciting as the dream ceviche but it was delicious.
― nickalicious, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
^ awes.
Yes also for the japanese avocado w/soy sauce, I've been known to add wasabi. OMG.
― suzy, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:08 (seventeen years ago)
i find that cholula hotsauce is the most perfect mate for avocado
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:09 (seventeen years ago)
I ceviched rainbow trout a couple weeks ago! It was delicious! Also: you can catch rainbow trout with cheetos!
― nickalicious, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:25 (seventeen years ago)
Results 1 - 1 of 1 for "cheetos ceviche". (0.10 seconds)
― Jordan, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:27 (seventeen years ago)
nicka that is so awesome.
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:29 (seventeen years ago)
oh man i luv rainbow trout. and ceviche. but does trout get "cooked' enough in the citrus? isn't eating raw freshwater fish dangerous? or is that just another of my dad's old scare stories.
― m coleman, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:29 (seventeen years ago)
Also kind of appropriate for this thread: at work the other day we served strawberry salsa out of avocado halves.
xpost scare stories
― nickalicious, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 21:32 (seventeen years ago)
when the wife and i were in mexico last year, we made ceviche w/ the sea bass we caught and then ate it on tortilla chips. really delicious. when you use freshwater fish for ceviche you need to leave it in the citric solution for a lot longer (30 min or so). with saltwater fish, you really only need a couple of minutes
― 6335, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:05 (seventeen years ago)
good stuff! we used to catch sea bass by the bucket load right off the surf in mexico. then make the ceviche right on the beach
― carne asada, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:10 (seventeen years ago)
i could completely destroy some ceviche right now or maybe some oysters
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:10 (seventeen years ago)
yeah i am thinking of braving the heat for a sushi-sake run.
― tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:13 (seventeen years ago)
i got ceviche at chimu on saturnight and the dish is half the size that it used to be. so good but too pricey now for the size. plus the pisco sours there are $10.
― Yerac, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:39 (seventeen years ago)
i have never been there but always wondered about it.
― tehresa, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:39 (seventeen years ago)
are avocados really expensive in nyc?
― max, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:42 (seventeen years ago)
i feel like the ceviche there is super good but now too small for $15. i like the empanadas and chicken. i think Ian is like a VIP there.
― Yerac, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:45 (seventeen years ago)
i paid $2.49 for an avocado yesterday :/
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)
#1 sad about leaving LA
― max, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:50 (seventeen years ago)
my old place in LA had 3 avocado trees
― carne asada, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:52 (seventeen years ago)
yes but were they hass or big green n watery
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:52 (seventeen years ago)
yeah ian has a VIP card at chimu. the last time i went it was just so-so.
― bell_labs, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:53 (seventeen years ago)
they were delicious
― carne asada, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:53 (seventeen years ago)
those big green watery ones don't even count as avocados
― carne asada, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:54 (seventeen years ago)
do u know what kind u had?
― jhøshea, Tuesday, 10 June 2008 22:57 (seventeen years ago)
i am so jealous of l.a. peoples' produce. the only place i've ever gotten a good deal on avocados here is fairway, and that's kind of a hike to get to.
