I'm sure there are many options I haven't covered here, but fuck it.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 19 June 2008 18:32 (seventeen years ago)

Out of undies or socks. I've been hanging everything up to dry (lol small apartment + king size flat sheets) instead of using the dryer for almost a month. 2-3 loads of clothes fit on the drying rack, so it seems like I'm doing tons more laundry than when I did it all every other Saturday (with the occasional stopgap load during the week) for the 2 of us.

Jaq, Thursday, 19 June 2008 18:43 (seventeen years ago)

Where's the "whenever you have a full load" option?

libcrypt, Thursday, 19 June 2008 18:45 (seventeen years ago)

Full washer load, that is.

libcrypt, Thursday, 19 June 2008 18:46 (seventeen years ago)

my write-in option this time of year: Out of short-sleeved shirts I can wear to work and have to wear a long sleeves in friggin' June

some dude, Thursday, 19 June 2008 18:47 (seventeen years ago)

It's hard for me to remember that there are people who don't rely on laundromats. Sorry.

Oilyrags, Thursday, 19 June 2008 18:47 (seventeen years ago)

Not going to the laundromat is one of my favorite activities in life.

libcrypt, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:05 (seventeen years ago)

This is why I don't wear undies or socks. Need poll option: "When bedroom starts smelling like dirty laundry."

There needs to be something more emphatic than "OTM"

Oilyrags, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:14 (seventeen years ago)

not having to pay machines to do my laundry has greatly increased my frequency of laundering. which means that i now have a ridiculous abundance of socks and underwear purchased on the regular "fuck doing laundry i'm going to target" trips.

BLACK BEYONCE, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)

Every day!
lol being parents...

you guys are crazy. i miss going to the laundromat. choice reading time plus people-watching. it's something like being on an airplane-- no one especially wants to be there, but everyone is forced to be there for a certain amount of time. it breeds an interesting sort of unspoken comraderie

dell, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:43 (seventeen years ago)

Out of stinkables (undies and/or socks). Glad I own a 2-week supply of both.

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:45 (seventeen years ago)

that i can see, but for years my "laundromat" was a half-broken coin-op machine in the terrifying basement of the flophouse we all rented, so my romantic feelings about it are at a low ebb.

BLACK BEYONCE, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)

I used to not mind laundry so so much except for sadness about the family of tiny tiny Muslim women who wore full burqa and niqab and you couldn't see one single bit of them, fluttering around like helpless little black bats drying their clothes.

Now, though, my laundro is so far away I might as well wash by hand in an old wringer.

There's apparently a thin line between rationalization and I'd refuse a washer/dryer if they showed up on my doorstep, yes?

libcrypt, Thursday, 19 June 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

Last place I lived, the building's washer/dryer sucked, so I'd just lug a pile down one block to the corner tailor/dry cleaner and have them do a plain ol' wash/dry/fold. My estimation is that it cost me about 2x what going to the laundromat would have.

This. Except I've ended up with a 5-week supply, which makes my house unpleasant when wash time is overdue

stet, Thursday, 19 June 2008 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

I do it once a week. On sunday. Then I do a few runs depending on how much dirty clothes we have. But this is much handier than waiting for a full load. (Then again if I waited, I'd do it a few times a week...) I think I'll need to up the times per week to two cause my cleaning lady does it behind my back. Yes, I could be happy with that but I'm not: she's fucked over a few (knitted) garments despite telling her you need to put that shit ON A FLAT SURFACE. Damn, she kept hanging it up and you don't do that shit cause it'll stretch like a motherfucker. *sigh* I had to throw away a few items I had knitted, which IS NOT A FUN THING TO DO. :-)

(Damn, Black Snake Moan got me all dirty talking.)

stevienixed, Thursday, 19 June 2008 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

Usually it's the lack of socks or work clothes, but now that I go to the gym every day it's really put the pressure on to get it done.

I used to hate the laundromat, and wouldn't go back for anything.

Bimble, Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:32 (seventeen years ago)

you just can't get the staff these days (x-post)

dell, Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:37 (seventeen years ago)

"fuck doing laundry i'm going to target"

i've done this.

i have a lot of clothes, so i can usually go a month or more without doing laundry. but that just leads to me having like six loads of laundry to do at once.

get bent, Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:45 (seventeen years ago)

It occurs to me laundry is like THE most unpleasant household task I can think of (outside of oh I dunno...changing diapers or emptying the cat box or something like that). At least with cleaning I get a sense of accomplishment and pleasant orderliness afterwards. With laundry I get nothing.

Bimble, Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

Out of undies

J0rdan S., Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

dell otm

J0rdan S., Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:49 (seventeen years ago)

I think laundry is more satisfying..."Ah, my sheets are clean; I have clean underwear, etc...", as opposed to, "oh, gee, that little speck on the bathroom sink is finally gone"

dell, Thursday, 19 June 2008 22:50 (seventeen years ago)

Well I guess it partially depends on how often you clean and I don't clean all that often! :)

You gotta walk on your feet. Your tackle can sort itself out, pretty much.
