Samantha, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

let's talk about my shoes, they are red and sooo pointy. i mean, seriously i ould have someone's eye out. they are also my first EVAH pair of kitten heels. "WOMEN: do you remember your first pair of kitten heels?" "POINTY SHOES: Classic or Dud?"

katie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

if i curled the ends of them up i could be one of those magickal magicians or snake charmers, they're so long and pointy!!

katie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

come on people, SHOES!!!! :)

katie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no. you've lost me.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are they like Donald and Davie Stott's shoes?

Jonnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

no, they are MINE *grrr guards shoes ferociously*

katie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I meant like as in similar not as "I was so,like, whacked" or whatever.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Pointy shoes are silly.

Ally C, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i can't understand the point in having shoes that extend beyond the length of your feet. i would rather my feet look all pretty and dainty rather than having a long, leather toe prosthesis.

that said, my sister bought me a pair of pointy kitten-heel boots quite recently as an apology for being mean, and i quite enjoyed the womanly feeling of wearing them.

nickie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What is this thread about?

N., Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

WOMANLY FEELINGS n. and shoes. the two are closely related...

yeah i usually think that v. pointy shoes just look silly, but these are just so much fun!!

katie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Samantha - feel free to post on this thread whenever you're ready.

Jeff W, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ask Samantha, she started it.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Samantha: If it's not too late, can this thread also be about South By Southwest? How was it?

fritz, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hmm, this thread was about me wanting to start one but not having the wherewithal to pull it together. I figured you lot could handle that for me.

I like kitten heels. have none. must get some. today.

SXSW, you'll have to ask Hank about that one.

Samantha, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

how about north by northwest then? mount rushmore's finest performance, no doubt.

dave k, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Since it's the equinox, let's talk about egg balancing.

Samantha, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Egg balancing! So that explains the relay race in my office today with people carrying hard boiled eggs.

lawrence kansas, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you can balance an egg on any day of the year - it has nothing to do with the equinox

michael, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I bought new shoes today. They're fantastic.

rosemary, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have 4 pairs of shoes / boots with kitten heels: 1 silver, 1 black, 1 black mules, 1 pair black boots. All pointy toed except the mules which are open toed. They are the only heel I can walk in but having said that they do make me teeter at times. Also they get stuck in cracks in the pavement / holes in the ground in general and are not ideal for muddy / wet terrain.

Emma, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I bought some gorgeous shoes the other day, brown suede Paul Smith ones, fortunately they were less than half price.

chris, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Talking about shoes = you are a gurl. I hear you can get a cheap sex change in Thailand.

Emma, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

when it comes to buying clothes it has been mentioned before that I show many female traits: the willingness to trawl round many shops, trying on things for the hell of it etc etc

Fortunately I like boys clothes not ladies ones, unlike certain people of my acquaint.

chris, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I once got my heel stuck in a grating outside Tooting Beck tube. I was wearing pointy-toed purple stiletos and I was on my way to interview someone. I got stuck and had to stand there, struggling, in the rain for over ten minutes. Every time I lifted my foot the grating came with me. Eventually a nice man walked past and stood on the grating while I pulled my foot out.

I was late to meet person and made a total prat of myself by being too honest and turing up at the studio door going "Sorry I'm late my shoe got stuck in a grating." - Which I'm sure did a lot for my professional credibility.

Anna, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It took ten minutes before anyone offered to help? People are such bastards.

chris, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

They're just busy. Who has time for bailing out inept shoe antics?

N., Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There weren't that many people around. It was Tooting Beck at about 11:30 on a weekday.

Anna, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Maybe they didn't realise you were stuck. Maybe they thought you were just dancing in a strange way. Or that you were a mentalist.

Emma, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Or that you were a mentalist.

A very real possibility, since most of the people around me at the time were in that catagory.

Anna, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you were south of the river after all.

chris, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That was a funny thing you did there Cabbage. Yes, it was.

(Not the south of the river bashing which is to be quite honest getting very tired, but the sly pick of the nose you did when you thought no-one was watching. Do you really think we're not out to get you ect ect)

Sarah, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But south of the river is such a easy target.

Ed, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

b b b but Sarah, there are loads more mentalists walking the streets of South London, mostly due to the Maudsley kicking them all out a while ago. Particularly was the woman who used to paint herself in white paint, whenever I saw her in Camberwell I used to get very scared.

chris, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Having lived both sides of the river I can confirm that there are indeed many more deranged street folk in SE London than in NE London.

N., Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

They should run checks at the bridges I think some of them are escaping and colonising the holborn area.
