the main village ethiopian place is meskerem, on macdougal near w. 3rd. it's pretty good. there's supposed to be one in nolita too, but i haven't been. and besides the other indian stuff mentioned, for a quick, cheapish lunch i like indian bread co. on bleecker. (and/or kati roll, they're sort of similar and both good.)

if you go to indian bread co. you can have a naanini!!!
