Is blog view ever coming back? Although I only posted a handful of times to the old ILX, I was thoroughly in love with it. In fact, I kept showing it to friends, exclaiming "this is how message boards should be!"
But since the demise blog view I've found myself drift away, and use Twitter for my chatter stream of smart/funny people. But it's no ILX.
I would be so so so so happy if blog view came back. In fact, I would overcome my shyness and not lurk anymore, and participate in the community.
Ok, that's all. ::gulp:: (scurries off)

also, make new answers longer! far too easy for decent threads to drop away and it's near impossible to find them again. similarly are there any plans to improve the search function? it rarely finds anything and doesn't even search the content of threads (google misses 80% of content too it seems). also bring back sections and splitting threads into month/year.

The question now is: do we WANT you to post. *evil cackle*
Srsly though, don'tbe shy, post. I mean, if Tuomas can ask questions like "'What's *insert famous popcult ref?????????????*" than why not post yourself!
Oh yeah, I don't know the fuck you'e talking about. Blog view?

Omg, blog view's back! Can we have RSS too? :D

More to the point, can we bring back double features with a newsreel and a cartoon?
― Aimless, Friday, 2 January 2009 18:02 (seventeen years ago)
I'm not 100% our support folks want to figure out how to deal with the zillions of folks who set their RSS clients to refresh every minute, a problem that plagued ILX1. I thought about writing an RSS module that would punish frequent updaters by slowing down their updates exponentially until they backed off, but I got distracted by something shiny and fast-moving or maybe a piece of yarn.

I've actually got a thing here that generates static feeds of new questions every hour or so, just haven't tested it or deployed it yet.

@libcrypt how about giving the feed a secret password or url & using feedburner or yahoo pipes as the publicly available feed?
― jesse, Friday, 2 January 2009 21:58 (seventeen years ago)
@libcrypt

It would be nice if it was easier to start a new thread from Site New Answers.

welcome timid lurker. I have felt this lack in the past also. but why would a lurker want to start a new thread?
― Aimless, Thursday, 29 October 2015 00:58 (ten years ago)
lukas the lurker (TM)

by the time i found this thread and posted, i'd lost the devil-may-care attitude that led me to want a new thread

Aimless already addressed the timid lurker seven years ago.
