michael, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you haven't had time to listen to them all, therefore you have not ranked them yet.

DV, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The prize and my ranking will be decided after I get back from France. Actually DV some of them I had anyway on obsolete formats and got cos they were in a sale so given I bought them at lunchtime I have had time.

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I Get Wet and sod everything else.

Bill, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Actualyl, Paranoid and then the Andrew WK and then sod everything else. Am I the only person in the world that finds Kraftwerk boring? Europe endless indeed.

adam, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

At last! Someone on ILX who doesn't like Kraftwerk!

Tom, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Adam's a rare man indeed. We should preserve his species to avoid extinction.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the man machine is the best cos they talk in russian on the first track

"ya tvoiya sluga, ya tvoya rabotnik"

Deadman, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

InteresingL I listened to "Teenager of the Year" today for the first time in about, well, a year. I've seen you praise it before on these very boards, though, Tom. Did you lose your CD or just never got around to buying your own copy?

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

*I* don't like Kraftwerk. In fact I don't like any German music as it scares me.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What's the Futurism compilation?

Tim, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

This should be like the board game mastermind where you tell us when we get one in the right order, but not which one.

I'll go for Man Machine, 2 Many DJ's, Andrew WK, Morrissey, Sabbaff, Futurism, Frank Black, Autobahn.

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The big electro/ synthcore compilation album of the year - released this week in Britain, on the City Rockers label - I think you will like the front cover, Tim ;)

Futurism - tracklisting and front cover

It is compilation of the month (5/ 5) in the brand new Jockey Slut (FC Kahuna) on the front cover.

DJ Martian, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My vote is 2 Many DJ's, Futurism, Man Machine, Andrew WK, Autobahn, Morrissey, Sabbaff, Frank Black. I have heard three (and probably most of the Morrissey one).

Vinnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oooh I want that one I do.

Tim, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

geeta, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oops! Didn't mean to mock Billy by writing Sabbaff, just copied his response and rearranged the answers. :)

Vinnie, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Soulwax with Futurism and the rest is fine! Does it show I need a new system myself?

nathalie, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Suedehead, the best of even!

jel --, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Guardian's Friday review is doing an article on electroclash/"synthcore" and hanging it on the Futurism album. It seems to fly in the face of accepted compilation wisdom with its Mr The Housecat heavy track listing. No complaints mind.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"In fact I don't like any German music as it scares me"

Great German Music: Helloween, Barbara Morgenstern, Kreator, Komeit, Amon Dull 2, Neu...

jel --, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cor, that Futurism thing looks ace.

RickyT, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Morrissey and futurism in same sentence shocker!

Mark C, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Great German Music

Bach Kurt Weil Rammstein

JB, Thursday, 21 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Black sabbath are the only ones worth listening to on that list. Static-x, Godsmack and Biohazard rule too.

God, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I looked everywhere for that soulwax album last night and couldn't find it anywhere.

chris, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i'm gonna try sister ray/selectadisc tonite. Guardian article on Futurism/synthcore

Alan Trewartha, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i'm off to look for soulwax now. I am not entering Tom's contest as he is always changing his mind about rekkids, so we are all in NO WIN situation!

Jeff W, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Billy: from this day forth, I will refer to them as Sabbaff then.

Vinnie, Friday, 22 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

six years pass...

Am I right in thinking that Tom never told us the order?

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:33 (eighteen years ago)

Andrew WK - I Get Wet
Soulwax - 2 Many DJs

Dom Passantino, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:35 (eighteen years ago)

electricsound, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:37 (eighteen years ago)

Dom Passantino, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

Something to do with Lene Marlin and Andreas Johnson?

Dom Passantino, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

Black sabbath are the only ones worth listening to on that list. Static-x, Godsmack and Biohazard rule too.

Is it just me that really enjoys reading old ILX threads where mental posts from randoms are completely ignored?

DJ Mencap, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

Futurism was an electroclash comp on City Rockers, I can't remember who was on it though

DJ Mencap, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:42 (eighteen years ago)

Can I lol @ Morrissey?

Tom D., Monday, 19 May 2008 12:44 (eighteen years ago)

Nicotine Cowboys
Miss Tayne
Echofusion
The New Vulgar

xp

Dom Passantino, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:45 (eighteen years ago)

There were at least 2 vols of Futurism. I like them, but then I would. Usual stuff like Felix Da Housecat, Tiga, DFA remix of Deceptacon etc.

Colonel Poo, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:47 (eighteen years ago)

They had the 12inch remix of Pablo Cruise's "Short Stain" by 12AD. Shit was BANGING.

Dom Passantino, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:48 (eighteen years ago)

Futurism was an electroclash comp on City Rockers, I can't remember who was on it though

Oh, i enjoyed it too. Peaches, Chicks On Speed, Ellen Allien, Felix Da Housecat remixed by Röyksopp. It's...er...of a time.

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 19 May 2008 12:51 (eighteen years ago)

i have no idea what bizarre contrarian thought process led me to post this:

Am I the only person in the world that finds Kraftwerk boring? Europe endless indeed.

adam, Monday, 19 May 2008 14:46 (eighteen years ago)

Step off, Dom, "I Get Wet" is by far the best album of this decade.

Abbott, Monday, 19 May 2008 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

RONG

latebloomer, Monday, 19 May 2008 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

OK, so normally when I see an OOOOOLD post of mine, I usually don't get embarrassed, but this is one of those example where I'm all WTF WUZ ME THINKINGS!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

LOL, 2 Many DJs over fucking Paranoid! Good one, Mr. MacD

Mackro Mackro, Monday, 19 May 2008 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

three years pass...

Wonder if we'll finally get the answer for the tenth anniversary of this crucial question.

I Get Wet has aged the best of these imo

ciderpress, Wednesday, 3 August 2011 03:33 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, that one sounds as uncool now as it did ten years ago (and I mean that as a compliment).

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 3 August 2011 03:39 (fourteen years ago)

for an album that so many have derided as "commercial crap for Jock Jams" there's still really nothing that sounds like it

frogbs, Wednesday, 3 August 2011 13:09 (fourteen years ago)

Futurism = old-skool electroclash comp I believe.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 3 August 2011 13:13 (fourteen years ago)

I'm guessing from 2002 Tom:

1. Soulwax
2. Andrew WK
3. Futurism
4. Man Machine
5. Morrissey
6. Autobahn
7. Frank Black
8. Black Sabbath

Matt DC, Wednesday, 3 August 2011 13:15 (fourteen years ago)

Maybe swap the bottom two around.
