I looked it up on the urban dictionary website, but none of the definitions there really seem to capture the flavor of the contexts in which I usually encounter this word while reading stuff.

when i was in college we called people "beardos", it was a combination of beard + weirdo. we used this term for bearded dudes who made improvisational or experimental music.
