BB5

banriquit, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:08 (seventeen years ago)

This was sort of started on a reflective note, as I wondered about if I ever saw the DVD of the 'bedsit' year, I'd get one if I saw it cheap in a carboot sale.

Then I find that they stopped after the poor sales of the BB4 one.

BB2

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:12 (seventeen years ago)

I remember far too many of these people. Mostly the horrible ones, which I suppose is not surprising. I thought this years bunch were/are pretty awful but looking back...

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:13 (seventeen years ago)

Actually I've changed my mind - BB4. I like boring.

Ned Trifle II, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:13 (seventeen years ago)

BB3: Alex vs Jonny the Geordie Fireman

stroker ace, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:15 (seventeen years ago)

My favourite "big" "brother" is Alec Baldwin

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:15 (seventeen years ago)

7 then 5

BB5. Victor was the best housemate ever.

7

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:31 (seventeen years ago)

5 and 6 were the pinnacle. 6 was better, more twists and turns and wtf-ness. my favourite two contestants ever (makosi and science) plus many happy memories of seeing the vile maxkia pair go down. plus, kinga's antics. how could anything ever come after that.

lex pretend, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:34 (seventeen years ago)

or even during!

Mark G, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:36 (seventeen years ago)

Automated Big Brother wins the universe.

Autumn Almanac, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:37 (seventeen years ago)

I enjoyed 5 a lot, though I might vote for 1, as the whole format was effortlessly captivating back then.

chap, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:46 (seventeen years ago)

2 just beats 1, mainly for chap's reason.

Mark C, Monday, 30 June 2008 11:54 (seventeen years ago)

BB5 by a mile. No housemate has ever scaled the heights of pantomime villain diary room BB meta and just being plain fucking hilarious as Victor.

Also the pure psychological torture of "no naked jacuzzi" and when they made actual civil war refugee Ahmed do the military task. Actually Ahmed is possibly the most bewilderingly successful housemate ever.

Matt DC, Monday, 30 June 2008 14:17 (seventeen years ago)

I won a DVD copy of BB1 online. I reckon I was after a bigger prize, but I don't remember what the competition was, even when it arrived.

A serious flaw that BB5 never made it to DVD. I think a factor was that Endemol would not release 'the fight' footage, so no DVDs have been made since.

Mark G, Monday, 30 June 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

2. 5 was good entertainment but only in that cynical unpleasant way.

blueski, Monday, 30 June 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)

I was going to say that Fight Night was the first clip of UKBB that I ever actually saw but then I remembered the clip from BB3 of Kate sliding down a banister and smacking into the bottom, falling off and howling, "DAVINA I NEED A NEW PUNANI..."

HI DERE, Monday, 30 June 2008 16:20 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Saturday, 5 July 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

5 or 6. the first four were good and had some great characters and tasks and moments and stuff but I don't think it got really great until 5

conrad, Saturday, 5 July 2008 23:10 (seventeen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Sunday, 6 July 2008 23:01 (seventeen years ago)

and the winner is....

Mark G, Monday, 7 July 2008 08:31 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah.. And a good second place too.

For what it's worth, Nadia as the winner still seems wrong. Maybe it was a case of everyone playing themselves out against each other, Nadia being the last one standing.

Mark G, Monday, 7 July 2008 08:34 (seventeen years ago)

5 really was quite fucking incredible, looking back, wasn't it? i'd have voted for that.

but 4! it had jon! it had gos (who, admittedly, did fuck all but basically just radiated I AM A GOOD DUDE vibes). i liked 4 a lot.

surprised nobody went for 3.

6 was a pale imitation of 5 but still had moments of aceness. 7 was where it all went wrong: i'm not even sure i finished watching that. would need to go back and look at the thread on here ...

grimly fiendish, Monday, 7 July 2008 14:08 (seventeen years ago)

yep. i stopped watching it (apparently) when "grace, nikki et al went back into the second house. i don't intend to bother with it now until the final (and even then, i'll be at work)".

go me.

grimly fiendish, Monday, 7 July 2008 14:13 (seventeen years ago)

Last years one, they had two of the housemates from BB2 and that was one of the years' 'nice' moments, but it seemed to be an acknowledgement that the best years were in the past, somehow.

Mark G, Monday, 7 July 2008 14:15 (seventeen years ago)

I think that is incorrect

conrad, Monday, 7 July 2008 14:20 (seventeen years ago)

You're right, they were from BB3 not 2.

Mark G, Monday, 7 July 2008 14:21 (seventeen years ago)

This is a just result.

Matt DC, Monday, 7 July 2008 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

correct

and yes it was one of the 'nice' moments but I don't think it was an acknowledgement of anything except perhaps brian's BB fandom and otherwise last year was really good
