― ENBB, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:37 (seventeen years ago)

"I didn't order this...send it back" lols
― Gukbe, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)
Are there toilet facilities? In just under a minute, the Dinner in the Sky platform can be lowered to the ground for quick and easy access to restrooms.
awkward!
― rrrobyn, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:41 (seventeen years ago)
that's the #1 question on the faq
Want the whole world to know you’re up there? Our customizable banner, visible from the ground, lets passers-by know at a glance where your company stands among the rest.
― Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)
Me: Whoops, dropped my fork. Guy on sidewalk: AAAAAGGGIIIIhhHHEEEeeee!
― Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)
do they serve alcohol?
slideshow also big lols
― rrrobyn, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:44 (seventeen years ago)
Totally. What if you took a really long time and everyone had to sit there waiting for you? Not cool.
― ENBB, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:45 (seventeen years ago)
"you ain't nothing but a waitress in the sky"
― velko, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)
Think I'll open up Bathroom in the Sky and make millions.
― libcrypt, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)
the thing is, the slideshow taught me, is that this is pretty much just a platform suspended from a crane! not that i wldn't do it, but we really should be using the hover technology for added drama. and noise and wind.
― rrrobyn, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:47 (seventeen years ago)
maybe they raise it back up once youve been dropped off?
the premium cost in this supposedly isnt so much in the experience but the waiters perfectly calibrated jetpacks, which automatically raise then lower their carrier to a precise pre-set height at the touch of a button
incredible stuff
― deeznuts, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:49 (seventeen years ago)
omg - there is one guy in one of the slideshow pics with his eyes closed who looks terrified.
― ENBB, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:49 (seventeen years ago)
fuck a dinner, why can't I just get a jetpack
― Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:50 (seventeen years ago)
Boring Business Dinner Meeting in the Sky still Boring Business Dinner Meeting
― rrrobyn, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:51 (seventeen years ago)

i wonder if they'd let you bbq up there
anyone up for a DitS FAP
― Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:52 (seventeen years ago)
^^^ reason I will get rich with BitS
― libcrypt, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)
Okay when they said the seats swivelled 180 degrees, I was really really hoping that meant you could flip yourself upside-down.
― HI DERE, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)
FAP might be the only way I'd ever agree to DitS. Just looking at the pics makes me a little uneasy and I'm not even really afraid of heights. Something about the whole thing just ain't right.
― ENBB, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:55 (seventeen years ago)
that slideshow is fucking hilarious
― deeznuts, Thursday, 3 July 2008 19:56 (seventeen years ago)
so much comedy i thought for a minute that the whole thing wasn't for real

― deeznuts, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)
don't see this being allowed or popular in nyc given the rate of crane collapses lately.
― mizzell, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:01 (seventeen years ago)
somehow i don't think this is meant for people who are overly concerned with safety and well-being

or sensible dinner options

i want revolving building-top restaurants to make a come-back
they kind of seem to suck and be pretentious and/or boring when they should be rad! they are REVOLVING! which is awesome by nature! they need to make a big-time comeback like john travolta in pulp fiction but then stay okay and moderately affordable and not get annoying again

― am0n, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:16 (seventeen years ago)
It costs about $12,000 without food. That's a tad on the expensive side.

Haha, according to slideshow you can have your own pianist playing on a separate platform next to the dinner table! And a trumpeteer playing for your Wedding in the Sky! I wonder if the company will actually deliver those if asked?
― Tuomas, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:26 (seventeen years ago)
I keep singing, in my head, "Now that dinner's in the sky, you can have dinner anytime!"

― G00blar, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:38 (seventeen years ago)
haha i mean obviously they exist and are in many cities! but they are not really very exciting restaurants even though they are rotating :/ and why be on top of holiday inns and sheratons when they could be at the top of glorified malls or o_O entertainment complexes!
also they should go faster

haha i agree rrobyn. that thing is fugly.
if they're gonna go faster they could resurrect the concept of vomitoriums while they're at it.
― am0n, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:51 (seventeen years ago)
Oh, we should have a QI flashing sign there...vomitoriums are not rooms for vomiting in. Not that this hasn't stop Eric Pickles calling Britian one only the other day. Fucker doesn't know his Roman architecture.
― Ned Trifle II, Thursday, 3 July 2008 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

― deeznuts, Thursday, 3 July 2008 21:25 (seventeen years ago)
They should just give you a metal lunchbox with a couple of sandwiches and a drink in it, because, looking past the kitsch high class trappings of the chef's hats and gleaming silver service, what you're paying for is the experience of being a construction worker, several flights up, on a major city project.
Before the slideshow, you do get the impression that you'll be flying around suspended from a blimp or a zeppelin, which would be a lot classier of course. Then again, maybe you could donate that stupid money to a better cause.

There is still one on top of the marriot in manahattan. The best one, though, is on top of a mountain, the shilthorn, rather than a building and is great if only becuas eit was in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. the view is pretty good.
The food in revolving restaurants tends towards the awful.
― Ed, Friday, 4 July 2008 08:41 (seventeen years ago)
lol the slideshow
