Recently I'm finding that I can't watch anything on TV which is acted. Something in my brain just tells me "these people are pretending" and the annoyance levels rise. This is completely stupid, I know, and I've been completely capable of suspending disbelief from the age of 0 to 30, so why now? also has this happened to anyone else, and please give me recommendations and reasons to snap out of this anti-acting bizarro daftness. Cheers.

Would you feel more comfortable if you knew certain people weren't really actors but were cast according to type?

Can't say with any certainty, but I would guess that, perhaps unconciously, you've become especially sensitive to sham, pretence and deceit in all situations, and one spillover is that watching actors 'pretend' now annoys you.

You don't need to do anything to cure this. Over time it will cure itself, but I couldn't begin to say how long it might last before your mind feels comfortable with acting again.

Since it is a minor thing, I wouldn't sweat it much.

Watch Animal Planet, because the animals don't know that they're acting, and then find human beings who do the same thing.
