So apparently there's a new season of PR starting next Wednesday but they haven't released any info on the cast at all so I can't make any TOTALLY OFF THE MARK predictions.

Who's excited? I kind of don't care TBH.

The Brainwasher, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:51 (seventeen years ago)

SO EXCITED

i had no idea when it was gonna start again.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:55 (seventeen years ago)

I don't care now, but I'm sure I'll be obsessed a month from now.

polyphonic, Tuesday, 8 July 2008 23:56 (seventeen years ago)

i thought I heard this wasn't going to be on bravo anymore and was moving to A&E or some shit?

akm, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:13 (seventeen years ago)

ok i heard it was gonna be on lifetime but now i have no fucking clue

Surmounter, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:14 (seventeen years ago)

This is the last season before it moves to Lifetime.

Super Cub, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:20 (seventeen years ago)

super cub with the hard facts

thanx for allaying my confusion!

Surmounter, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

i have no information on this

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 01:35 (seventeen years ago)

I heard some of the dudes are gay.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 01:55 (seventeen years ago)

it's kind of weird that they don't have teaser info up like profiles and such. Usually that stuff is up on the website weeks before the season debut. The whole thing seems rushed and half-assed - like a last ditch effort to squeeze some more profit from the franchise before it goes to a different network. Doesn't bode well.

Super Cub, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 02:43 (seventeen years ago)

i thought the same way, but after finding out that Lifetime PR is moving to LA i don't care how shitty this season is because one more "real" season is preferable to any number of seasons of the neutered version that'll be on lifetime

Keaney Tong, Wednesday, 9 July 2008 06:05 (seventeen years ago)

guys this aired tonight; they're rerunning it right now! i had no idea...

horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)

so excited

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)

like, half of everyone picked tablecloths for the first season supermarket challenge. these people are kind of feeble. tim gunn just told them off.

Kelli is my early favorite.

horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:28 (seventeen years ago)

the guy who got kicked off, his outfit was better than the leather girl's. just sayin.

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:32 (seventeen years ago)

he shoulda just left out the rubber gloves. the dress underneath was cute! and the coat wasn't even that bad. it was like, evil nurse trolls for sex. which i mean come on, that can work, as a look.

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 03:56 (seventeen years ago)

no, that coat was hideous. he sucked.

yay, Kelli won! i am feeling a little lukewarm about the season, though.

horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 04:01 (seventeen years ago)

the coat wasn't as hideous as that thing the other chick tried to call an attempt.

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 04:02 (seventeen years ago)

they both sucked but that dude deserved to go. it was all just so wrong everywhere. the coat didn't fit, the dress was amateurish at best, the gloves signaled a really bad idea of what is "edgy" and unique. also he thought it was the shit where at least the goth chick was like "i was a tard for picking trash bags and this thing is gonna blow". (btw was she referring to her dress as "trash" and "garbage" on purpose? cuz i dont think so. she kept saying "my fabric is trash!" but she was like dead serious. it was v weird.)

i thought cup dude should've won but i wasn't really mad at the girl winning even tho the coffee filters over the tits was not a good look (looked like she should've been serving hours devours on those things). cup dude is def this season's christian except his confidence is v silent also he is kind of boring.

also lol @ the dude who looks like tuomas

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 06:49 (seventeen years ago)

this dude is def my favorite. looooooooooooool @ this pic

dunno looks pretty gd on iphone

czn, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:10 (seventeen years ago)

my fave PR contestant ever was gillian(?) - the girl in lst yrs final. her clothes were great; she dressed the best too

czn, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:12 (seventeen years ago)

otm

would've kicked it w/ her

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:12 (seventeen years ago)

really? she was kind of boring

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:15 (seventeen years ago)

personality wise.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:16 (seventeen years ago)

me and Zulema from season 2 would be cool

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:16 (seventeen years ago)

and Santino

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:16 (seventeen years ago)

I like big personalities

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)

ya zulema was rad

jillian seemed really chill to me, kinda my speed

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:17 (seventeen years ago)

haha how do you feel about SUEDE and the dude with the awful fake tan who made that awful lingerie thing

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:18 (seventeen years ago)

wesley :D

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:19 (seventeen years ago)

yeah I dunno what is up with Suede.. what is with his hair? He is totally blah.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:21 (seventeen years ago)

and what is with that dude who's addicted to tanning? "holla at ya boy?" oh lord...

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:21 (seventeen years ago)

ya the first one you listed was way underrated-- i guess they lumped it in w/ the "really good but used real fabric" bunch

i missed the beginning of the ep. did he say why he calls himself suede?

ya that dude is a wreck. he's gonna stick around for a bit on the virtue of making awful shit that is just vaguely interesting enough to not be worse than someone who did something poorly made and boring

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 07:23 (seventeen years ago)

lol http://jillianprojectrunway.blogspot.com/

czn, Thursday, 17 July 2008 09:59 (seventeen years ago)

the coffee filters over the tits were NOT great but the skirt part was A+++. i did love the girl with the red lipstick's outfit posted above tho -- red top w/ blue asymmetrical skirt. should've won :/

i actually really liked the bodice piece of tanning guy's outfit, but the diaper part looked absolute crap.

and as for the cup guy, he's cute. but i wouldn't go so far as to say he's this season's christian (thank goodness). and i don't find his quiet confidence boring.

the hottest guy on the show may very well be that adorable prep with the slight schnoz who arrived in shorts and the longsleeve button down. i'd KICK IT.

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 13:11 (seventeen years ago)

yeah that adorable preppy dude is adorable.

horseshoe, Thursday, 17 July 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)

let it be known that Keith Bryce is the absolute hottest-looking man ever to have graced the program, and for this reason I hope he stays a very long time.

Stevie D, Thursday, 17 July 2008 15:52 (seventeen years ago)

guh, kind of slow start no?

Tanning dude freaks me out and he seems like someone who has really shit taste but thinks that makes him "edgy".

xp which one's Keith?

Roz, Thursday, 17 July 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)

Keith's the really cute one with the buzz cut and beard who does "urban" stuff that they only gave like 30 seconds of the entire show to. Tanning dude is trying waaaaaaayyyy too hard to be the new Christian.

Stevie D, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

lol u should try and date tuomas

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

the cup guy deserved to win more than the coffee filter girl -- that top was an abomination against god and all that is holy. the bottom was fucking awesome but jesus christ that top was the ugliest thing that anyone came up with this episode. including punk rock gramma and girlicious.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

keith is hottt. shirtless.

the thing with tanning dude is he might come up with something amazing. seems like a hit or miss kind of guy maybe?

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:01 (seventeen years ago)

ya seriously. shit was inexcusable.

coffee filters would be better as a skirt, something poofy

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)

the tanning dude is this season's kayne. he may win a challenge that is tailored to ridiculous and ugly flamboyant shit and he'll skirt by on the normal challenges as the boring designers fall by the wayside but once he gets to the final 5-6 he's gonna fall apart

J0rdan S., Thursday, 17 July 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)

Balenciaga S/S 09 vs. Kenley

ILX MOD (musically), Friday, 17 October 2008 18:46 (seventeen years ago)

I actually like Kenley's dress more.

Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

BUT STILL, i could see claming ignorance if, say, you did the handpainted thing like that with a different silhouette or with the shoulders different but that is practically THE SAME FUCKING DRESS.

mikebee (BATTAGS), Friday, 17 October 2008 18:56 (seventeen years ago)

i think this has been said already in this thread, but i do think kenley is delusional about the reality of influence. she struck me as not quite right throughout the season.

horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 18:57 (seventeen years ago)

kenley stand by her statement that she has never seen any of these other collections she bites off of? i mean really? she is just so scary talented and creative that she coincidently came up with these design ideas on her own. come the fuck on.

Gavin "Spinner" Mason (carne asada), Friday, 17 October 2008 18:59 (seventeen years ago)

i don't think she perceives herself as lying. i think she is crazy.

horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:00 (seventeen years ago)

I wish the show had gone a little more into her homelife to explain how she got so crazy — there were hints around it — but I guess that's for another type of show entirely. I suspect a 30-second interview with her father would have made her a totally sympathetic character.

Joe the C.R.E.E.P. Operative (Rock Hardy), Friday, 17 October 2008 19:07 (seventeen years ago)

Actually, given the way influence runs through the fashion world, there is some slight possibility that Kenley is accidentally re-creating things by borrowing "inspiration" from their trickle-down through the general consciousness and other lines and ads and movies and so on. Obviously this would be every bit as much a failing, and it's kinda why you either have to be in or our with this stuff -- either you're a know-nothing "outsider" or you just plain have to pay attention to what's going on so you know your context. (I mean, it's fashion! Kind of the ultimate in arts that involve knowing the flow of trends around you and how your stuff fits into them!)

nabisco, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

Hahaha fashion and indie-rock, basically

nabisco, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

I find it somewhat hard to believe the nearly identical McQueen wedding dress was created by accidental inspiration, but you are right about the rest of that, I think.

Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:54 (seventeen years ago)

To be fair, Kenley puts weird shoulder poofs on everything, loves gardeny florals, and makes a lot of fitted dresses. The print on the Balenciaga has a similar palette but that's about it, print-wise. It's a very different-looking outfit below the shoulders, different neckline, ... also, totally agree that it's better-looking.

I don't want to be cap'n save a ho (c. Michael Knight), I just think her work can be taken on its own merits, and a lot of it is very nice.

polyphonic, Friday, 17 October 2008 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

just to be clear, it's her failure to acknowledge this that makes her seem insane to me. among other things, of course.

horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 20:00 (seventeen years ago)

50% of the girls ive seen walking around in new york look like leanne

○◙i shine cuz i genital grind◙○ (roxymuzak), Friday, 17 October 2008 20:50 (seventeen years ago)

guys, leanne won because she actually designed an entire LINE of clothes rather than just a series of dressed -- despite the fact that she had a very strong, maybe even overpowering visual theme, she had the most variety of the TYPE of garments she was showing. kenley and korto went with the "OMG i can make a million dresses" route while leanne had a lot of tasteful separates that could be easily mixed

P.S. for some reason i was NUTS over the fans korto's models flapped on the runway, it was a great little touch that added a whole lot of atmosphere to the collection

playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Friday, 17 October 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)

polyphonic, you are forgetting that they were both hand-painted. It's a pretty crazy coink-i-dink.

Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:13 (seventeen years ago)

and oh, can we talk about the runway music? kenley's runway music was wicked dumb guitar shit and so totally out of wack with her collection, korto had some nicely appropriate fela kuti shit and leanne had some weird squarepusher vibe going on that really fit A+

playing the abortion card (elmo argonaut), Friday, 17 October 2008 21:15 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i loved korto's music. i would basically have korto's babies.

horseshoe, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:16 (seventeen years ago)

I thought Korto's collection was the best and Kenley's was the worse, there was a couple definite klunkers and no one really wears avant-garde clothes.

Anyone know what Leanne's music was?

CaptainLorax, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:19 (seventeen years ago)

Santino made it. (j/k)

Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:26 (seventeen years ago)

it turns out that Project Runway winner Leanne’s runway song was made by her equally hipster dorky bf, Nathan W. McKee. It’s called “Cookie Breath,” and you can hear an edit of it here.

Why am I not surprised.

Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 21:55 (seventeen years ago)

It was pretty good -- I was thinking it must have been The Books or something!

And weirdly enough my first thought about Kenley's music was "she let some friends in a cruddy Brooklyn band put together something for her."

nabisco, Friday, 17 October 2008 22:06 (seventeen years ago)

kenley has no friends, remember?

ILX MOD (musically), Friday, 17 October 2008 22:19 (seventeen years ago)

He's defining friends loosely.

Alex in SF, Friday, 17 October 2008 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

there is a band called 'the books'?? kill me.

DC Purrman (sunny successor), Friday, 17 October 2008 23:44 (seventeen years ago)

kenley was noticeably without people to introduce tim to which must be a new york first.

DC Purrman (sunny successor), Friday, 17 October 2008 23:45 (seventeen years ago)

i like The Books.

Kenley's line was fucking amazing. I was sad she lost.

Surmounter, Friday, 17 October 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

(even tho she's a cunt)

Surmounter, Friday, 17 October 2008 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

i had the same thought! lol.

ok, re balenciaga - s/s 09 show was at the same time as the pr runway show... unless she had spies months in advance, how whould she know balenciaga would show that dress?
and like someone else said, it was a very kenley fabric and she uses those sleeves a lot. not that her wedding dress was original in any way...

korto was robbed. sorry, i have been saying since early on i do not get leanne's petal bullshit. her collection did not impress me. i think the reason korto's items speak to me is what nina said - that she can design for a wide range of sizes to make a woman look good. i think that's important. kenley's was very well-done, i thought, too, but i just really liked the overall feel of korto's.

highly theoretical, of course. (tehresa), Saturday, 18 October 2008 03:09 (seventeen years ago)

four months pass...

right so the upcoming season may never air and no one knows the contestants but damn, whoever the three finalists were made some fine clothes. I like all three collections more than any of the ones from last season, especially the third one.

after looking at this I still think Jay McCarroll is the best designer of anybody that's been on the show. also IMHO Kara Janx and Jillian should've won their seasons based on the runway. I really liked Jillian.. not every single thing in her show, but in general.. so impeccable.

suggban stevens (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 22 February 2009 02:06 (sixteen years ago)

she knows how to cut. i guess her clothes are rather conservative & you can see she used to work at ralph lauren, but.. it seems like if you bought one of her better pieces it would fit properly & be flattering and well constructed with a good, proportional silhouette. i thought siriano & some others use a lot of .. foof to cover up the fact that they aren't as good at that. (it really annoys me about trendy clothing lines when stuff cost a couple hundred dollars new, but for the quality/fit/material, you might as well go to h&m or zara. just saying. i wandered in a consignment shop @ georgetown today (found a fab cashmere vneck sweater for $18, perfect shade of very very very pale blush pink) & they had a cardigan from vince which doubtless cost about $300 new, had prob been worn for only 1 year, and it looked like trash.)
