Nothing has made me ponder "what is the world coming to?" in such a desperately confused way recently, despite all the nuttiness in the world right now, as this story, which i missed in June, and only noticed today.

Isn't it such a mindfuk when an event that occupies your mind in a certain way turns out to have entirely other causes? I remember, like everyone else, when this woman was killed in 2006, and how bad I felt for her devestated husband and her community.

Very much hope this isn't allowed to be queitly shuffled away. The biggest problem is the complacent (or complicit) aquiesence of those who should be ensuring that the Police does not descend into a corrupt mob.
Presumably getting the ethnic minority quotas up played a part.
