Why do actors get tattoos?

It seems really counter-productive, in that it should limit your roles. Evidence one: In the otherwise rather excellent Une Vieille MaƮtresse/An Old Mistress, set in 19th-century France, has one scene with Asia Argento's snakes-and-fireball back tattoo showing prominently on screen. I also recently saw an old Doctor Who episode, where he's just regenerated into a brand new body (Jon Pertwee), and yet had naval tattos on his arms.

i didn't even notice that in An Old Mistress, which i can't believe is translated so awfully to The Last Mistress.

You obviously weren't paying enough attention to the sex scenes.

how does that exist?

Surely they can be covered up if necessary

I think the worked Angie's tats into a more extensive covering for her role in "Wanted" I definitely saw the back tattoo she's had for a while there.

how was that? if i have to see angelina jolie holding another gun in my lifetime i might have to write her agent a letter!

It was bloody awful!

hyggeligt, Thursday, 17 July 2008 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

It was not awful, if you like over-CGI'd, under-explained summer movie shoot 'em ups.

If you have any interest in seeing it, I would see it in the theater, as the visuals and chase scenes are the best part of the movie. And James McAvoy was pretty good in it.

And James McAvoy was pretty good in it?

Surmounter, Thursday, 17 July 2008 14:32 (seventeen years ago)

Ha ha no. He actually gets beaten about pretty badly. I thought it was terrible but BLAM actually does a good job describing how one might really enjoy it.
