amazingly there hasn't been a thread on this already (or, more likely, the search function is useless)
ive downloaded all the seasons and have been watching them all from the start. halfway through s4 now. it's genius but the amount of racism is shocking, lots of references to things like 'p**i shops' and 'black man's pinch' and such. were other early 80s sitcoms like this as well? is it legal to be able to buy these dvds with the racism unedited?
also which is the best book out of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Only-Fools-Horses-Story-Celebration/dp/056338445X/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216396085&sr=1-4 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Only-Fools-Horses-Miscellany-UNOFFICIAL/dp/1905411057/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216396085&sr=1-10 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Z-Only-Fools-Horses/dp/0752860259/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216396085&sr=1-8 are there any others? want to know things like if jason and lyndhurst got on well IRL, when it became so popular and so on.

In Sickness & In Health's Alf Garnett is a lot more shockingly blatant with the racism, and there was Jim Davidson's approach in Home James but haven't seen that since the time.
