I honestly don't think that there are any significant exceptions to the option, not counting cheez-its, which don't count anyway because the point of a cracker is to be a medium for transporting some other flavor, not to be a flavor in and of itself.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 04:13 (seventeen years ago)

And lord knows what you crazy europists and antipodatrons get up to in the cracker department.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 04:14 (seventeen years ago)

I don't know, what about Stoned Wheat Thins, which are entirely different from Wheat Thins? They are really good, though I guess all crackers are good. Ritz + chicken noodle soup = heaven

askance johnson, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 04:31 (seventeen years ago)

Anyways, I voted for Ritz cuz my mom always dug 'em.

askance johnson, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 04:32 (seventeen years ago)

wheat thins will enslave you all. fear.

Curt1s Stephens, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 04:44 (seventeen years ago)

Ritz are greasy, buttery delights.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 05:05 (seventeen years ago)

Stoned Wheat Thins rule.

clotpoll, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 05:48 (seventeen years ago)

gotta go wheat thins. (i buy the reduced fat ones so i can pretend they're not junk food.) with a good sharp cheese, they're perfect. i like all the rest too -- i expressed my love of saltines on the saltines thread, and ritz and triscuits are pretty classic. i can eat a whole box of any of them, given sufficient opportunity.

I'm probably the only one who'll vote for saltine's...I love them: plain, with soup, with cheese...with peanut butter!!!

Plus...when I'm extremely sick, they are the ONLY thing I'm willing to eat...seriously.

Aja, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 06:23 (seventeen years ago)

My cats vote for Ritz. They lick little grooves into them.

kate78, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 06:43 (seventeen years ago)

STONED wheat thins?

I'm calling the cops!

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 12:28 (seventeen years ago)

I eat Triscuit for the fiber, it's like 6g a serving, but I'll eat the whole box if I have some cheese and jalapeno slices. That's like 75g of fiber.

nabisco OTM

wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

Premium Plus with salted tops for soup. Sociables for putting cheese/meat/etc on.

actually, I think by far the best crackers to use with cheese are Jacob's Cream Crackers, but I recall them being hard to find in North America...

salsa shark, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 13:44 (seventeen years ago)

I used to eat like half a box of these at a time:

Pancakes Hackman, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)

triscuits, especially all the fancy flavored ones

n/a, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:13 (seventeen years ago)

Yes! The flavored Triscuits are really good! Ranked by preference:
1. Roasted garic
2. black pepper & olive oil
3. fire roasted tomato & olive oil
4. rosemary

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:16 (seventeen years ago)

there's also "garden herb" triscuits which are a+ delicious

n/a, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:19 (seventeen years ago)

I haven't seen those around here, bummer.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)

Goldfish.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:31 (seventeen years ago)

I buy wheat thins more often cause they're great with spreads such as Kaukauna or Rondele, but ritz are tastier plain.

Granny Dainger, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:32 (seventeen years ago)

Oddly enough, a GIS for "cracker pole" isn't as architectural as you'd think.

libcrypt, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

"mister graham's crackers"

andrew m., Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:39 (seventeen years ago)

the old vegetable thins, the ones that were loaded with salt and dried tomato and fried in so much oil that they were practically damp, that was a great fucking cracker.

mookieproof, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

i used to date a girl whose go-to snack was vegetable thins + cheese whiz.

i'm all about stoned wheat thins and triscuits, but i don't buy crackers anymore because if i do i just melt cheese on them and eat the whole box.

veggie thins and cheez whiz??!?!!?!?

i'm so repulsed that i'm intrigued.

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:07 (seventeen years ago)

I was going to say Carr's and Bremner Wafers but I'm not sure those count as "American".

Laurel, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:08 (seventeen years ago)

goldfish crackers?

do combos count?

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:11 (seventeen years ago)

wtf is good on a Ritz? I can't stand 'em.

wanko ergo sum, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)

Goldfish and combos don't really fit my conception of a cracker. Like I said, it's less a thing to eat in and of itself than a vehicle for sliced cheese, cold cuts, etc.

This is because I am wierd.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:13 (seventeen years ago)

Like I said, it's less a thing to eat in and of itself than a vehicle for sliced cheese, cold cuts, etc.

oh. well in that case maybe you should check out rye bread.

Rye bread is very nice, yes. Tough to poll, though.

Oilyrags, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

this one candy shop puts good peanut butter between two Ritz crackers and dips the whole thing in dark chocolate, so sweet & salty.

Jordan, Tuesday, 22 July 2008 16:18 (seventeen years ago)

Laurel, I fear you're right about Carr's. For shame! I didn't read between the parentheses.
