I'm looking to do some organic farming next summer (helping out an already-established farm) but I have yet to choose a destination. What are some of the most beautiful places in the country? Pictures I've seen of the Montana/Idaho/North Dakota area are stunning, despite being super desolate and everything. Then again, I'm going to be on a FARM, so most anywhere is going to be pretty desolate. Recommendations?

North Dakota can be pretty grim if you're not used to that rural. and there might be some beautiful places in that state but i'd say more often than not it will just be dismal small towns and nothing. (I say this as someone who grew up in Southern MN/Northern IA area and i know of what i speak)

Well, why not the central valleys in California, Oregon, or Washington?

I can speak for WA.. there are a good number of organic farms on the west side. There's one notable one on Vashon Island.
Oregon kinda rules in this dept., basically

Northern Arizona/Flagstaff/southern Colorado and New Mexico mesas, Sangre de Cristo/Pueblo, Santa Fe, all that. That is the most beautiful place in America.

Agreed about the I-40 part of the SW deserts being the most gorgeous part of the U.S. Don't know about organic farm opportunities there, but fuck it, just become a feral human at Zion National Forest.

REATARDS, MOVE THAT FARM IN UTAH! Sure sure super conservative religious government and all that, but that corner of Utah isn't, you know, Provo, it's the more BoHo Utah... and that's as beautiful as you're gonna get.

Well, I'll rep for home first: the UP of Michigan. I know of a handful of small organic farms there, but who knows as to the level of help they need. There are likely just as many that I don't know about. There are also apiaries, berry farms, tree farms, and the like.
After that, if I were you I'd go to eastern WA or OR. The right area of Montana would be pretty good too.

(oh yeah in the UP you'd get at least one Great Lake, lots of trails, plenty of end-of-the-earth type locations, and no interstates)

There are some organic farms on the Big Island as well. Considering that any agriculture in Hawaii is pretty small scale and you won't be the only person looking to work this kind of job, you're chances of landing a job might not be so great. Plus with the cost of living in Hawaii so high, you'll be lucky to break even. But hey, it's a beautiful place for sure.
