*********
I love that all these shows were cancelled within weeks. Idiot TV execs thought that people loved the Simpsons because it was LOLdrawings, as opposed to the fact that it had more warmth and insight that any live action show at time. "So lets throw together some fucking animal shows to steal their audience!"
Capital Critters: I watched this every week even though I hated it. Wikipedia syas there was Burger King toys, which is hilarious to me because everything i remember about it was that it was like watching a cartoon version of Doonesbury.
Fish Police: I remember reading about this show in a book about the Simpsons I got at K-Mart in 1992 or something. I don't remember this ever airing. I also remember the Dr. Demento standard "Wet Dream" by Kip Addotta, which this show is like a full-length version of. Cast was John Ritter, Ed Asner, Megan Mullally, Buddy Hackett. Wow!
Family Dog: I remember seeing the Amazing Stories short (1987) when I was a little kid and being SUPER bummed out. I was an animal lover, so dark humor about people being unappreciative and mean to a pet made me kind of sad. Apparantly this was the product of Simpsons/Iron Giant/Ratatouille guy Brad Bird; which isn't surprising because it's very stylized and excellent looking, but I never thought the show was very funny or good. Also, the dad was Stan Freberg! No wai!
Also I remember the Super Nintendo game was super fucking difficult, because the hit detection was REALLY poor, and the dog would just fall through platforms and shit when you were trying to jump on them.

Family Dog was my favorite show next to Alf. OH YES. Had no idea it was Brad Bird! Awesome.
Capitol Critters – I had one of the Burger King toys! It is a rubber toy of a mouse, scrubbing his back in a hot tub he has fashioned from a small Lincoln Memorial building.

Oh my God Family Dog was fucking HORRIBLE. The family treated the dog like shit, and that was supposed to be funny??
And Steven Spielberg was the producer!! WHY???

The dog was cute, and you got to pity it.

Family Dog is pretty quality. Maybe a little dark for kids, but it's very well done.
It's definitely a lot smarter than simple LOLZ @ ANIMAL CRUELTY .
