I remember in college during the dark post-9/11 days the bathroom walls were a popular place to voice political discontent (on a campus where we could see the plume of smoke rising from a very visible Manhattan skyline, and it was the school where the terrorists used the library's computers to buy the plane tickets for that fateful day).

People would write shit like "Bush Lied People Died!" and I'd write, "communist hippie" underneath that, and three more people would respond to my comment, and then people would write to support my comment, and then I'd write "Bush = 666 = Hitler" and there'd be 10 more responses. After about 2 weeks the wall would be absolutely covered with the most idiotic college-level political opinions, with a few gang tags thrown up for variety. Then the poor janitor would have to white wash the entire wall, only for the cycle to begin anew.

But I don't think "real" message boards have much interactivity, people don't usually comment the messages, whereas this happens quite often with toilet writings.
