You don't hear parents tell their kids "don't sit so close to the TV, you'll ruin your eyes" anymore

Is this because of computers and the fact that EVERYONE sits inches from a screen now?

Was the whole 'tv hurts your eyes' thing a big fallacy in retrospect?

When I was a kid, this was ingrained to me along with 'dont' talk to strangers' and 'say please and thank you' and all that other garbage. Now you rarely see people sitting MORE than five or six inches from a screen. What gives?

i miss tubes. the t.v. always had such a warm glow and it was so inviting. with the lights out, the glow would envelop the whole room and transfix like electric fire. now, i can go past a t.v. that's on and barely even register that it's on. maybe this is a good thing. i dunno.
