Our local German Club has a morning called Frühschoppen once a month - this amounts to drinking German beer in large quantities from 9am. We were told it was a tradition formed by husbands who didn't want to accompany their families to church.
(Curious fact: My girlfriend once asked the staff at the club, 'When's the next Frauschtuppen'?, causing guffaws amongst the jews in our party).
Anyway, who's done it? And should we? It sounds very tempting.

No, it's a genuine thread Sasha - and a genuine option at our local German club - though now I visit their website I see it starts at 11am, not 9am, which is slightly more respectable.

Hahaha, more acceptable for me...I have to admit the thing I disliked about this idea was 9 a.m. is usually earlier than I care to be dressed & ready.

I normally have a rule not to drink before 7 p.m. but friends got me margaritas @ birthday lunch one year and I was USELESS and IMMOBILE the rest of the day.
Oh, and Bailey's in coffee on xmas day, or an xmas breakfast bloody mary. Bcz xmas barely feels like a normal 'day' anyway!
