Groovy photos of beautiful 1920s/30s actresses...

L Brooks v v hott, but god, try reading anything biographical about her, gaze into the abyss (see also Jessie Matthews who was just about exactly as hott as "brooksie" and just about exactly as fucked up)

Anyway, Norma Talmadge pwns all:

Winifred Lenihan is lovely. Also, a rare example of a famous person without a wikipedia entry, leaving her life story unsullied by actual facts. I imagine her as a star of 20s Soviet propaganda posters, before disappearing in the South Pacific flying missions during WWII.

As for the rest, there was some crazy eyebrow plucking going on in those days.

Maude Adams wasn't strictly a '20s/'30s actress (she was the first actress to play Peter Pan on Broadway in the '00s; she retired in the '10s to work for General Electric, teach drama, and generally have her shit together, but she briefly returned to stage acting in the early '30s), but this is too great a portrait not to share:

In 1966 Francis was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy, but the cancer had spread and proved fatal. Having no living immediate family members, Francis left over $1,000,000 to a company, Seeing Eye, Inc., which trained guide dogs for the blind.
