"Poll" is one of the 100 most common English words on ILX, it seems

I got the first four in less than a minute but am stuck on the fifth

That's the thing, isn't it? When you get one you all of a sudden think of all the other forms it could take and all of a sudden you've figured out 10 new ones.

I got 40 but I swear there were some I typed in there that it didn't register (like I typed "and" but it only recognized "a" and then made my entry look like "nd"... wtf)

yeah it resets every time it gets a new one. so then you just type "and" again. problem solved.

40/100 - I think I wasted a bit of time trying every swear word, plus "pep5i" and "c0ke". Also I'm surprised that "floccinaucinihilipilification" isn't in there - I don't know what I'd do without it.

Heh, "and" took three attempts for me - a, an, and.

I scored 30/50 for the "50 largest countries" test, which the website scored as "30 out of 50, that's about 60%" About? It's exactly 60%! I have the feeling that if there's a math test on that site, it should be a bit easier...

That's scary as hell! I could maybe almost manage that with a text-free map in front of me, but the sheer mental organization of moving through them all seems like more of a test than knowing the countries in the first place.

59/192 - turns out that Leg0land isn't a member of the United Nations

I got 126, but I'm counting it as 128 because I put "Bahamas" instead of "The Bahamas" and couldn't figure out how to spell/input "Bosnia and Herzegovina."

(I think I spelled it right once, only I had "Bosnia-Herzegovina")

143/192. I did it systematically by continent, although I sort of forgot about the Caribbean. Only sort of, because I did, at some point, remember the three countries whose names begin with "Saint," all of which are in that area.

I got a pretty good score when I first did that but felt cheated by being marked down for failing to get exact names like "democratic republic of the congo" so I retried a few times with an obsessive determination I didn't know I had&I eventually got them all. A route is the key. Has considerably improved my knowledge of islands.

Ha, this is funny, because I had to delete the articles for it to accept The Netherlands or The Gambia.

109/192, but I'm calling it 115 because I was fucked over for the two Congos, The Bahamas, and Bosnia, and couldn't quite spell Liechtenstein or Kyrgyzstan. I can't believe that I remembered places I couldn't find on a map (like Mali or Papua New Guinea), but forgot about Holland (or whatever you want to call it) just over the sea.
