Ed, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

and for that matter, what tuning?

Ed, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 17:18 (seventeen years ago)

Legally Blond VHS. Is that what inspired you to go to law school?

this thread needs pics!

cutty, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 17:26 (seventeen years ago)

Banjo is resonator, 5-string. It's a decent sounding banjo - definitely a notch or two above entry level at least. You can tune it however you want, obv. It's missing a screw that holds on the resonator but that should be easy to find.

Hurting 2, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

Pics shortly. Camera battery was dead is charging.

Secret gym-bag manufacturer that survived communist rule?

My new place IS extremely small. I'm going back to school. I'm moving into a new small place because it's in a building owned by the school and it's the only cheap thing close to campus.

two months pass...

I happened to visit Bard campus recently and it really makes a nice half day visit. The contemporary art museum there is surprisingly large and very good -- a lot of *brand name* artists and interesting lesser known ones; seems to be a heavy focus on video art although that might just be currently. There's a Frank Gehry-designed performance center (I didn't see anything there but I imagine they have some worthwhile events). The original building is also very attractive, has a nice garden and is situated on a hill with a breathtaking view of the Hudson river. And you can play spot-the-Steely-Dan lyric (I didn't know there was really a Barrytown!).

Only drawback being that we didn't find a good place to eat, although maybe we were just misled by the person we asked.

what would you want for the banjo? i probably shouldn't even ask, cuz i'm not really in the market for any more instruments i don't know how to play, but i do love the sound of that old-time pickin. also thought about picking up a mountain dulcimer today, except it looked poorly constructed, obviously of recent vintage.
