bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:13 (seventeen years ago)

Well michael phelps, we know you can swim in the same stupid regulation swimlanes as always, how about standing at top of the innsbruck downhill run in not much more than what you're wearing and facing a real challenge

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:16 (seventeen years ago)

You should be on the Olympic committee with ideas like that.

not_goodwin, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:19 (seventeen years ago)

next olympics they should make everyone switch events. swimmers ski, skiers do track & field, etc.

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:20 (seventeen years ago)

velko, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:21 (seventeen years ago)

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

Kerm, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:31 (seventeen years ago)

Curling doesn't count lol

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:46 (seventeen years ago)

Curt1s, the importance of curling is that it gives Minnesota hockey moms their due. Why do you hate the family unit so?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway the only reason why bell_labs likes the Winter Olympics is that she's looking forward to being in Vancouver in 2010 so she can smoke weed.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

there's only 16 sports in the winter, and half suck ass. (biathalon nearly makes up for the suck ass half all by itself). i haven't been a fan of the winter games since they got rid of Military Patrol as a medal event.

Granny Dainger, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:48 (seventeen years ago)

biathlon is dope

max, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:52 (seventeen years ago)

i probably prefer the winter olympics in the end but hating on the summer olympics is frankly crazy

max, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 03:59 (seventeen years ago)

All of the skiing rules, spec the racing but also the freestyle
Snowboarding
Luge and skeleton rule
DBobsled is aiight
The speed skating rules
I don't care for figure skating but at least its on ice and not gym mats
Fuck you if you hate hockey

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:06 (seventeen years ago)

lol @ ice dancing

velko, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:08 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah ice dancing does need to go

bell_labs, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:15 (seventeen years ago)

gotta get the lols in somehow

tehresa, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:19 (seventeen years ago)

hockey is cool but you've got water polo, field hockey, handball, and basketball as comparable summer sports.

Granny Dainger, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:54 (seventeen years ago)

and soccerball!

Granny Dainger, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:56 (seventeen years ago)

track and field is awesome.

horseshoe, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:34 (seventeen years ago)

S-, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:37 (seventeen years ago)

People who like Winter more than Summer are bourgeois amirite?

Mordy, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:46 (seventeen years ago)

How can you evenbring class into the seasons of the year? You must've been Marxist Professor of the Year 2008

burt_stanton, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:49 (seventeen years ago)

Obv what I meant is that skiing and whatnot require equipment common to prepsters. And Summer olympics is all about swimming, and running, and gymnastics.

Jeez, lighten up dude.

Mordy, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:53 (seventeen years ago)

no thanks mordy, or should I say, Mordimer! why are you always running from your proud nubian heritage?

burt_stanton, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:54 (seventeen years ago)

OMGZ you PWNd me. :-/

Mordy, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 05:55 (seventeen years ago)

Mordy, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 06:12 (seventeen years ago)

this thread was a hotbed of foolishness from the outset.

estela, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 06:16 (seventeen years ago)

jergins, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 06:39 (seventeen years ago)

lol no one mentioned air pistol

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 13 August 2008 06:40 (seventeen years ago)

Winter olympics had Bjork n Peter Gabriel.

I'm making no comment on which side this puts me on.

Trayce, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 06:54 (seventeen years ago)

The Olympics are abysmal...the worst big sporting event I can think of. It's like a county council sports fair except the entire world happen to be involved, so few of the sports appeal to me aesthetically.

I mean, I'm sure others disagree, it's a v popular event, but I've tried watching and it's just impossible to care, many of the events seem too much based on achieving a statistical score, the achievement of which often looks no different from failure to reach such a score.

Ronan, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 07:50 (seventeen years ago)

I think that people who practiced a specific sport, even on a very amateur level, have a different appreciation of it. I know that I get very into watching swimming, and that's all about the fact that I used to swim in highschool. I can appreciate how incredible the swimmers are, and I understand what makes their athleticism superhuman, almost. My wife is the same way about fencing (which she played competitively in college).

Mordy, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 07:56 (seventeen years ago)

three years pass...

true or false?

buzza, Thursday, 2 August 2012 06:40 (thirteen years ago)

running like a young deer (symsymsym), Thursday, 2 August 2012 07:28 (thirteen years ago)

I watch far more Winter Olympics events. Of the Summer Olympic sports I watch, they all have some technology element, like cycling or fencing.
