he was fine in it & his mom was awesome but the flick itself was incredibly innocuous & pandering, i saw it cuz i read a review that said it was a cross b/w rushmore & ferris bueller's day off & that was TOTAL HORSESHIT
anyway i dont mean to piss on yr thread & im sure this kid is great but that movie sucked & im still pissed i paid to see it in theaters
― deeznuts, Monday, 18 August 2008 05:10 (seventeen years ago)
"deceptively complicated," i think, is how i describe that film! i mean, at first glance, it's a normal teen comedy, but really it deals with a lot of complex stuff pretty well. and he's really good in it. this my lose all of the potential anton supporters, but: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuzWnbPM0hc&feature=related

― Tape Store, Monday, 18 August 2008 05:13 (seventeen years ago)
guys, don't let this slip down the pipeline. i watched blue crush last night. anton isn't in it, but john stockwell is making middle of nowhere with him (and also susan sarandon and justin chatwin and a couple other people), and i'm really excited.
― Tape Store, Monday, 18 August 2008 06:10 (seventeen years ago)
also fierce people, which i will discuss soon.
― Tape Store, Thursday, 28 August 2008 19:18 (seventeen years ago)
god, i need to rewatch fierce people, which was very good. More importantly, John Stockwell (director of the fantastic Blue Crush) premiered Middle of Nowhere at TIFF this year, and here is a review: Previous attempts to elevate Anton Yelchin’s rising star in the mould of a poor-little-rich boy (Charlie Bartlett) or rich-little-poor boy (Fierce People) have come a cropper. In John Stockwell’s surprisingly satisfying romantic dramedy Middle of Nowhere, the wiry-headed actor inhabits another brainy-rebel part that craftily melds both demographics. Aided by a percolating script and simpatico chemistry with co-star Eva Amurri, Yelchin has found the breakout spotlight he deserves.

The fact nobody has mentioned how good he was in Huff when I always think of him as "the kid from Huff" helps me understand why Huff was cancelled.

Huff is great.
I'm really sad that MIDDLE OF NOWHERE stalled, and I'm trying to rescue it for a local run in the early spring. Who knows if the production company will budge.
That last picture is still my desktop.
And I thought I posted this here but apparently not? He's a star of THE BEAVER, which was top of the black list. Filming now. yayyyyy, here's to recognition for this insanely talented actor!

although I kept wanting to slap both of them.
I thought it was pretty bad for much the same reason. Starts out okay with a gauzy take on young wuv, but there was no chemistry or anything to make me believe they were destined to be together (or at least to try to be together).
