Also, there's an entire niche industry focused on camo self-contained wireless cameras for hunters. Do a search for "Trail cameras," there's a shitloada stuff out there.

They would have had camera phones in 2008. I guess they weren't "hidden cameras", though. Camera phones are set up to stop people taking surreptitious pictures, iirc, which is why you can't turn the clicking sound off.

You're right. I think that most phones don't (or at least didn't) have it as a removable option but you can get apps that take silent photos.

No but also you're right and I'm wrong. Every camera and (shitty) phone I've had has had the option, but seems like a lot of phones (including iPhones) don't have it as a standard option. Weird.
