Team GB has made everyone in Britain proud. And come 2012, the London Olympics will show a rather different sort of national character from the one we've seen in Beijing! Yes, it rains sometimes, and we often just muddle through as best we can, but better our British sense of humour and pricking of pomposity than the rows of robots organized by the Chinese! Mayor of London Boris Johnson is in many ways the perfect face for the London we want to project in the 21st Century - confident, fallible, loveable and just ... so very English!!

Mayor of London Ken Livingstone will open the games since London will if they've got any sense have voted him back in by then (Boris will leave office early due to boredom).

Most youths are actually quite nice people.

That's a good one - I'm always seeing it: *the OTHER side of our misunderstood younger generation*.
I expect it's true, and some of them are nice. Some are not nice, though, and are extremely violent and dangerous.

Mr Carlin, is your 'London if they've got any sense' part of a satire? They didn't have a lot of sense last time after all, and I don't especially see them getting any more.

I'm optimistic that London has already seen the error of its ways in appointing this pantomime horse and that they will learn the appropriate lesson when next they approach the ballot box.

Loveable "buffoon" Boris has put a smile back on the face of Londoners with his mumblin' and a-bumblin' ways - God bless you, sir!
