I just took it upon myself to do a round trip of Germany this summer (well, what's left of it?). I don't know where to go, but what I do know is, it begins in Hamburg and ends in Frankfurt. Worst case scenario: I remain constricted to the people I know in these cities and have a moderately good time. Best case scenario: I get to see Berlin, Muenchen, Wittenberge (ok, someone I know lives there), Muenster (born there), Koln, etc thanks to the grace of the £149 rail pass I'm debating whether or not to buy. Any ILXors out there around the 9th-23rd for fun and Oktoberfest related shenanigans?

As it happens, I'm actually flying to Hamburg today. But it's only a halfway stop, from there I'm continuing to Rostock to meet a German friend, and we're going to Berlin together next week. Unfortunately I'm coming back to Helsinki already on the 8th of September, so if your trip begins at 9th, we won't be in the country at the same time.

anyone live here or have any up to date info on good bars and restaurants?
i'm going to be in hamburg next week, and so far all i have is a vague idea of staying in st pauli and a more concrete idea of going to golden pudel on tuesday to see move d and on thursday to see smallville dudes.
any tips appreciated.
