Odd. There appears to be somebody blowing a clogged trumpet very loudly somewhere in one of the parking stalls. This was preceded by an argument with someone else that ended with the words "4 o'clock on the dot!" (It is currently 6:48 in the morning.)

Crush them. Drive them before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.

Why do people mow lawns in the morning? I know, there are several good reasons, but also why can't everyone mow their lawn at the same time instead of in staggered shifts all fucking day? Do you think it would be possible to have an ordinance about this? I sort of imagine myself in tight pants and a low cut blouse standing in the middle of the street announcing; "Gentlemen! Start your engines!"
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 14:32 (seventeen years ago)
It has been quiet since I posted. Perhaps the trumpeter is dead.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 30 August 2008 14:58 (seventeen years ago)
Perhaps you killed him

I now have a 100ft Fox news big screen outside my window, which, although not loud is very bright.
― Ed, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:07 (seventeen years ago)
There is a parade going down my street with lots of airhorns and such. This was supposed to be my first day to sleep in and destress in 2 weeks.
― bell_labs, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:21 (seventeen years ago)
Its a childrens parade and looks pretty cute and all but the soundsystem is just planted directly below my bedroom window
― bell_labs, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:26 (seventeen years ago)
Why do people mow lawns in the morning?
Because mowing in when it's 80 degrees is smarter than mowing when it's 93 degrees. (Downside: dew.)
― Rock Hardy, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:28 (seventeen years ago)
I won't be noisy before 8 a.m., but after that, to hell with neighbors. Around here, they're all up anyway.
― Rock Hardy, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:29 (seventeen years ago)
I get the when to mow the lawn thing - I just don't get when one guy starts mowing the lawn and the guy next door is sitting enjoying his gin and tonic and reading the paper but then suddenly decides he should mow his lawn at precisley the time that the first guy is done. leading to an endless cacophony of lawn mowers.
I just want to put them on a schedule.
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:50 (seventeen years ago)
That's fascist.
― Rock Hardy, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:51 (seventeen years ago)
i prefer to mow the lawn in the early evening just before sunset.
parades all weekend in prospect heights--lucky us.
― ian, Saturday, 30 August 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)
I have some dominatrix tendencies.
it's quiet here, except for the church bells. Which are chiming more than twelve - maybe there's a funeral?
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)
I'm sort of obsessed with the spoken word brilliance of "Four o'clock on the dot!" at 6:48 a.m.
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)
neighbour below has big rants at the weekend in the daytime, you can hear him roaring and screaming guaranteed every sat and sun afternoon.
― Local Garda, Saturday, 30 August 2008 17:37 (seventeen years ago)
I admit to nothing. Meanwhile, what is the best way to get blood out of one's clothes?
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 30 August 2008 17:52 (seventeen years ago)
Burn the clothes. Buy new ones. You can raise the money by eB4y-ing the trumpet.

you are going to smoke and have a widows peak.
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)
I must bear this burden as I can.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:19 (seventeen years ago)
You will still be super cute and carry good luggage.

Hope Bruce Weber's still alive to record me in my autumn years.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:28 (seventeen years ago)
Not sure about the color of the tie.
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:30 (seventeen years ago)
Future Ned, why did you take up smoking? :O
― Abbott, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:36 (seventeen years ago)
I'm all okay what with the killinating and hawking hot oods, but you should know better than to smoke!
― Abbott, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:39 (seventeen years ago)
Maybe future Ned is just holding the cig so future Bruce Weber can snap the pic?
― aimurchie, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:44 (seventeen years ago)
I know my public.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 30 August 2008 18:50 (seventeen years ago)
the public loves purple ties.

Saturday mornings aren't so bad around here.
But what does get to me occasionally is the Refuge Temple across the road where they start PRAISING THE LORD at some ungodly o'clock and often don't stop PRAISING THE LORD until about 10 o'clock at night.
I mean, surely even THE LORD gets sick of being praised that much sometimes? Surely THE LORD wouldn't mind if we all occasionally got to lie in on Sunday morning?
(cue Simpsons quotes etc.)

i ended up going back to sleep after this ended around 1 and slept til 4:30, i feel like a waste of human life
― bell_labs, Saturday, 30 August 2008 22:04 (seventeen years ago)
saturday mornings are just friday nights by other means
― velko, Saturday, 30 August 2008 22:38 (seventeen years ago)
It is raining. The lord is not being praised. Or maybe those lord-praising f*ckers are actually keeping the doors of their bloody church closed so as not to wake the whole neighbourhood.
― Masonic Boom, Sunday, 31 August 2008 09:30 (seventeen years ago)
I am fortunate, since my block, and the surrounding blocks, are about 80-90% Orthodox Jews. So no shenanigans on Saturday morning - it's Shabbos!
― Pancakes Hackman, Sunday, 31 August 2008 11:57 (seventeen years ago)
What about Sunday? That's like their Friday night and Saturday all rolled into one.
