HELP

Have had mild cold symptoms for 48 hours (no alcohol in that period), but a killer headache the last 24. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen have had no effect. Moaning a lot and walking like an 80-year-old from the agony.

Water. Rest. A bit of a walk outside. More rest and more water. Some soup and/or other good food. Then two glasses of bourbon. Water. Sleep.

i was had a bad (pressure change?) headache or two a few weeks ago and warm, winey (good) food helped, plus sleep. hydration is basic.

Yeah today was suddenly really warm in London and I think it's the pressure change that's got my head in a vice.

^^u&k - you might also try a mucus thinner, or a warm pack on your nose and eyes to help clear your sinuses

does not sound like a tension headache, which would be caused by your muscles clamping down on your head's blood supply.

bourbon is a really counterintuitive way to grt rid of a headache, plus I don't have any in the house -- how bout a couple cans of Modelo?

yes, we have it in cans in NY, which are easier to carry home from the supermarket when you feel like shit.

i'll admit the bourbon is unnecessary and usually just when everything goes really wrong

bourbon is counterintuitive in the sense that any alcohol would be, but maybe it would be less so for say a sinus headache in that it might do a little to get you open. while red wine can cause some headaches (if you drink too much? or have a sulfite allergy?), it might help others as a relaxant.

Yeah, I was going to say that if this headache pesists beyond a reasonable amount of time (a few hours), you may need to take it as a possible symptom of something worse. Meningitis is what popped into my mind as an example what could be worse than just a headache.

Somewhat abating, but still a fairly restless night. Since I still have mild sweats, an occasionally ugly cough and leg aches too, I'm chalking this up as part of the flu for now. I hope not the swiney kind.
