I tried to get a job once at this grocery store called WINCO (it is in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, either California or Colorado, and Oregon). It is amazing – cheap, lovely food, and employee owned & operated. GREAT benefits. They keep cheap, in part, by doing things like charging you less if you pay by cash and letting you bag your own groceries.

I'd applied and called and nagged for months with no reply. I was 17, just out of high school. One day I found one of the WinCo polos at a thrift store, which they wore as uniforms. I went in wearing it and started bagging peoples' groceries. A manager found out and kicked me out of the store, telling me I was giving people the wrong idea.

So don't try and do that to get a job.

that was my job while in school in the early nineties, and sadly or whatever i realize that it was the best job that i've ever had.
