Here's where I park each day. If you look closely, I think that's my white van at three o'clock.

Right next to the 18th hole.

I wonder why Google maps' aerial photography of European cities is so consistent. Always seems like summer or late spring, high-res, well-lit. American photos seem like they vary a lot, even within cities.

On my commute, I basically leave the driveway and turn right for twenty minutes.

four years pass...

This is kind of weird. I don't know.

I've lived in only four areas of the U.S.: North-Central Arkansas; the Little Rock metro; Columbia, Mo.; and Minneapolis.

And right now, I live pretty damn close to each of those places by way of longitude.

Did you know that Little Rock is due south of Wisconsin? Where I live now is due south down that red line. Looking at that nice stack of states on the west side of the Mississippi all my life, I just assumed that my current home would be right under the Twin Cities somewhere. Still, my current longitude is only about 40 miles away from where I lived in Minneapolis.

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt203/pplains/Screenshot2012-10-10at112825AM.png

Here's where I went to school, Columbia, Missouri. I lived on-campus at Mizzou and in a few places within a mile or so of the university. There's the red line, where I live now, falling about four miles away to the east (coincidentally near Route PP.)

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt203/pplains/Screenshot2012-10-10at112612AM.png

And here's the saddest of them all. There's the red line, and about 3500 feet to the east on what's now called "Woody Trail" is where the shitty trailer was that I lived in with my mom and sister in 1980. Thirty-two years later, and I'm no more than just a half-mile away from where I lived as a kid, longitudinally speaking.

How far are you now from where you used to live?

pplains, Thursday, 11 October 2012 22:01 (twelve years ago)

you may be along the same longitude but i bet when it comes to attitude you're in a different hemisphere!!!!

So if L.A. was on the East Coast, it would be located just south of Wilmington, N.C.
