Anyone else completely go for this space navy series? And has anyone read any of David Weber's other books? If so, how are they?

I thought they were kind of silly (the one or two I read) but much better than those Weis/Hickman SF novels--"Star of the Guardians" or something. Those were crap, especially following the excellent Death Gate series.
