Bubble wrap: classic or dud

I love it. You pop a few when you first get hold of it, and then it sits there, waiting. So you sneakily pop a few more bubbles, and a few more until it's a full-on bubble bursting frenzy culminating in scrunching it all up so loads burst at once.

New psychological analysis answers :-)

it is like opal fruits (sunburst), fun at first, but then you carry on because you cannot stop even though the fun has now gone.

I take it to another level, I bite them shits.......it's a strange fetish.....I also like doing it with soft candy in a wrapper like Bonkers fruit chews....i just bite the wrapper and candy whole and feel the sweetness first pop! then ooze out the wax paper....it's a textural thing, I been doing it since preschool....it totally wastes the candy so I only do it with a few pieces. Goodnight.

Ramosi, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

big roll of it on floor. push self sat on chair across it, yelling "wheeeee!". makes a nice jacket too.

Alan Trewartha, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, just re-read that. This is the point where Ramosi tells me I'm into bubble wrap porn. Must start reading things before pressing submit.

I do exactly the same with Starbursts, keeping them in their wrappers.

Anna, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like bubblewrap. In Paperchase, they do different coloured bubblewrap. There's blue and there's green and there's pink and then there's just plain old regular bubblewrap. I like bubblewrap.

jamesmichaelward, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmm, I can understand the Starburst thing, but I used to prefer sucking boiled sweets with the wrappers still on. Saliva would leak into the wrapper at various points, and circulate if it could, so after a while you'd be left with a grotesquely deformed sharp and lumpy sweet, dissolved in some places and not others, which hastened the onset of sore-roof-of-mouth-caused-by-too-much-sucking.

My dog loves this stuff. You pop one bubble anywhere in the house, she'll come running, grab the stuff outta your hands and proceed to pop each and every bubble wiv her teeth.

Mitch Lastnamewithheld, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bubble wrap -- so worthy. I like taking my time, though -- one bubble to pop at a time.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bubble wrap is more classic than classic. I made a bubble-wrap chicken bear once. Here's a dumb virtual bubble wrap.

Samantha, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think bubble wrap is stupid.

there's a piccie somewhere on ILE which shows that Graham has back- lit bubble wrap on his ceiling. I'd find it & do a blue-writing gateway to it if I could be arsed. A guy at work had a processor delivered with no padding at all in the box and when he opened the box he discovered that the pins on the processor were bent and it was useless. he e-mailed them to complain and they sent a replacement with a huge mountain of bubble wrap which enevloped his desk completely.

MarkH, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think bubble wrap is stupid
I look forward to N.'s Weird Al-style take on Culture Club, entitled the "Bubble Wrap Song".

Bubble wrap is stupid
And people are stupid.....

MarkH, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

lollies with wrappers still on, no. eating sugar still in paper sachet, yes. bubble wrap - ned makes an important point. no pop can ever be more satisfying than the single bubble pop. the impact is lessened exponentially for every extra bubble that is popped simultaneously. at the extreme end of the scale, when you're just wringing a huge sheath of bubble wrap like a wet shirt, the (lack of) impact increases negative, frustrated bloody mongrel emotions instead of the anticipated feeling of release.

minna, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We all seem to have bubblewrap money shots on our websites. Here's mine.

Momus, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am foiled by bubble wrap! (har har) It seems that the air always escapes into the adjoining compartment, almost mocking me as it blithley smooshes away from my feverish little fingers. I am thereby deprived of a satisfying *pop*! Evil tormentor! Aaaaauuughhhhhh...

Kim, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't the slightest idea now why I thought that foiled thing was a pun or something. I've cracked open completely I guess. mmm.

Kim, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Until the end of my days I shall be haunted by the phrase "bubblewrap money shot".

Dan Perry, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My BUBBLE WRAP MOTHER SHOT.

(or the one Mark H spoke of)

Graham, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Off to the oedipal complex thread with me)

Graham, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

i fully agree with anna. classic

di, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

how could bubble wrap ever be dud? it's half the good of the present (depending on the present it can be all the good)

Maria, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

three months pass...
bubble wrap sends me into fits of manic snapping of said bubble wrap interspersed with much hysterical giggling.

disclaimer: Sarah [me] is not responsible for the damage done from the result of hyperness due to the high amount of fun levels in bubb;e wrap and/or substances similar to bubble wrap. Excuse me, I must go hide in the bathtub now...
